Arsidian's Room
POV: Arsidian Lis'ra
When I woke up the next day, I would have thought I'd find my wife still asleep next to me, but that wasn't the case. Instead, I find myself alone with a note laying on the pillow next to me. The note reads:
"Dear Arsidian,
I'm sorry I'm not there when you read this. Lady Elise and Lady Mira summoned me first thing this morning and I didn't want to wake you. There was a matter they needed my assistance with and it couldn't wait. I'll be waiting for you in the Audience chamber. I'll explain everything once you arrive.
Yours truly,
Amber Lis'ra"
I say out loud "This doesn't seem to be good."
With that, I climb out of bed and get myself dressed. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach and I didn't like it. If my parents summoned Amber, then there had to be a good reason for it. Everything had been calm since the elven continent was attacked and destroyed, with nothing showing for an attack on ours. But, thinking about that made the realization hit harder than I would like it to have.
The beast-folk attacked the elves and lost a small number of their people. So, why would they wait to attack us? That part, at least to me, didn't make any sense. Unless they were waiting for us to let our guard down. They had to be planning something, but what that "Something" was, was a mystery to me.
Audience Chamber
"What do you mean there was an elven familiar flying around?!" Shouts a male voice.
"I know it's hard to believe, but I know elven magic when I see it." States a familiar female voice.
"But the elves were killed, except you and Sidora." Barks the male voice.
"They must have kept one alive so they could spy on us. Unlike Human and Demi-Human magic, Elven magic can't be traced, unless by another elf. And I'm telling you that was elven magic." Replies the female voice calmly.
"If they have an elf and are forcing him to summon his familiar, is there a way we can track it down?" Asks another familiar female voice.
"The only way to track down the caster is by capturing the familiar and making it show us where its owner is." Replies the female voice.
"Can you do that?" Asks the second female voice.
"My magic isn't suited for that, but Sidora's magic is." Replies the female voice.
"Elise, could you get our daughter and Sidora up. I have a bad feeling that this familiar was sent here for a reason. They want us to find it." States the female voice.
"Send word to everyone that a fight is coming and to be prepared. I'll get Alyssa and Sidora here immediately." States Elise.
"Sir Aaron, I give you permission to mobilize your troops. I'll notify Arsidian the moment he arrives." States the female voice.
"Mira, whatever happens, you stay safe." Replies Aaron as he leaves the room.
"I will." Replies Mira.
"Mira, is there anything I can do?" Asks Amber.
"Not at the moment, but once Arsidian arrives tell him all you know about this familiar. I need to keep my daughter safe." Replies Mira.
"I'll do all I can." States Amber.
Just as one would expect, Arsidian arrives in the middle of the conversation.
