Chapter 3

Weeping.

That's what I heard. I didn't know who it was but the person sounded familiar.

I wonder what they were crying for? Must be something bad.

I tried my hardest to pry my eyes open hoping to find the source of the pained cries.

I got them open but not to the fullest. The sun was shining through the windows of the room causing my eyes to try to adjust.

I looked around a bit and my eyes landed on my mother.

"Ma..," I scrunched up my face when my voice came out all rough and scratchy like it hadn't been used in ages.

For a second there was silence and my mother raised her head to look at me. When her eyes landed on me she immediately jumped out of her seat.

"Oh my baby," she cried while coughing a bit.  Her eyes were filled with sadness and despair while I stared back my eyes full of confusion.

"What's wrong ma?" I went to put my hand on my stomach to notice that there was no longer a bump. I looked at my mom hoping to get an explanation.

"You..you went into labor," she said looking down.

As soon as she said those words it all came back to me.

Me going into labor.

Me passing out.

My baby girl.

Julian.

Julian..

"Ma wheres Julian?"

I could have sworn I saw my mother break into a million pieces. I felt my heart hammering in my chest at the thought of something happening to Julian.

She started crying again while gripping my hand. I sat there feeling awkward and clueless.

"What's wrong?" I didn't like my mother to cry, I mean who does?

"Sweetheart i'm sorry." she looked at me with pity filled eyes.

"Ma what's wrong you're scaring me," and she truly was. She wouldn't tell me anything and it frightened me.

"Julian.."

"Julian what, ma?"

"He...H..,"

"Ma tell me already cause you're starting to scare me," I felt tears starting to well up in my because I knew whatever she was going to say wasn't going to be good.

"He's.. he's dead."

I felt the tears free falling. I knew it wouldn't be good.
