Danica was upset.
And sad, unhappy, and devastated.
Viridian had lied to her promising to be here soon but six good hours had gone by and her best friend wasn't here, ditching her for her own male best friend.
For the umpteenth time, she called the number again and was about to try it when the door to their living room opened. She looked up before hugging her knees to her chest and burying her face in between. "O' way," she mumbled.
"Princess..."
"I need Dian, not you. She promised to insult you for me but she's not here. I wanna see my best friend." She whined.
"We're here because of that. We had to clear our schedule for you." Leon said and Danica raised her head and gave him a sarcastic smile.
"Look at that, your schedule suddenly opened up like mina's legs did for you."
"Nic–"
"Get lost, no wait. Call Dian for me. Tristan is not picking up."
"Viridian was kidnapped, honey. We gotta get you to a safe place before they come for you." Danica's sobs seized. "What?"
"We'll explain on the way, let's go."
Keon gently carried her from the couch, snort and all and she didn't fight him as he carried her to their car. "Where's Tristan?"
"Going to get his girl."
"And why ain't you with him?" She was placed in the backseat then Leon began driving.
"Cos we gotta protect ours," Leon replied looking at her through the mirror before looking away.
Danica blushed and looked away thinking about her friend. "Have you called the police?"
"Yes?" Keon also looked at her.
"Okay."
"Don't worry, she's gonna be fine." She nodded to his words and sighed deeply. Her friend was more important than some stupid boyfriend that don't know how to keep it in his pants.
Meanwhile, Tristan was confused. Viridian knew? She knew yet she didn't say anything. Why?
He sighed when he saw where the tracker stopped. He brought out his dell Inspiron and got to work. This gotta be over soon, he thought because Dominick was a stupid nigga. He should have thought twice about bringing her to a place where he, Tristan did the security installment.
The male sat in his car as he inputted some binary codes and overrode some and soon, some doors were open and some locked. He hacked the handprint security and disabled it before Dominick could access it. While the red lights blinked and everyone ran helter-skelter, Tristan came out in a similar black outfit including a face mask carrying the same gun as them, and swiftly joined the running group.
He managed to make it to the dungeon where Viridian was kept and luckily for him, Dominick was nowhere to be found except an unconscious and tied-up Viridian and two guards. With two bullets, he took the guards out and hoisted her out of the seat. As he went out the door and into the corridor, Tristan realized he was trapped.
There were red laser beams crisscrossed from one wall to the end of the other blocking him from the final exit. A voice boomed above him as he muttered. "Fuck."
"Did you really think I was gonna let you leave just like that, Black?"
"Forget my goods that you sold. Where is it?"
"Where is what?" Tristan looked at a corner to notice a blinking camera.
"Oh nah, we not about to play twenty-one questions. Abe's file. Where is Abe's file?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know? Okay."
A beam shot past Tristan's shoulder, tearing his outfit and grazing the skin.
"Let's try again. Where is Abe's file?"
As an answer, Tristan placed Viridian on the floor and brought out his phone and the man in the speaker chuckled. "Good, we're getting somewhere." Tristan clicked on the phone and a booming sound was heard, noises of collapsing debris reaching his ears.
"That is your weapons storage room." He said before pressing on the phone again and another boom was heard. "That is your narcotics storage room. This next click will be your five billion dollars cold hard cash turning to ashes so let's try again."
He looked up directly at the blinking red light. "Let me go."
There was a large pause before the laser beams disappeared and Tristan picked up Viridian walking hurriedly out of the building. He placed her in the passenger seat before getting in and driving off then he called the twins. "On my way home, call the doctor."
He sighed as he glanced at the pretty woman. Damn it, he had a lot of explanation to do and only God knows what Dominick told her.
When he got to the twins' house, Danica was pacing around in the living room following him as he took Viridian upstairs. While the doctor examined Viridian and Danica stayed with her, Tristan was chatting with the twins. "Send him a message not to mess with me again."
The twins nodded before Leon asked. "Was it about the goods? Should we just send that too? Cos this ain't worth the girls' lives."
Tristan shook his head. "Abe's file."
"But we don't know where it is," Leon said.
"Dominick don't believe that. Fuck, I wish I opened it before it got lost."
"Yeah, you never explained how you lost it anyway. We been chasing it for six years only for you to lose it after two days."
Tristan glared at his friend not liking the accusing tone. "Do you think it was fucking easy trying to open it? The whole fucking file is a virus!" He snapped.
"Do you think it was easy to get the IP address or you think we got the info from gathering cookies?!" Keon snapped in return.
Leon stepped in between them to ease tension. "You lost it cos it was a virus?"
"Something like that. I didn't know it was a resident virus, the file has an allotted time. It crashed my whole computer and deleted itself, I couldn't even trace it."
Keon rolled his eyes. "And you have no idea where on earth it could be?" Tristan shook his head.
"What about Abe–?" Leon began.
"Abe is dead, has been dead for thirteen years."
"I meant Abe's son. The little nigga gotta know something." Leon finished and Keon turned to Tristan.
"Find him."
