extended summary !

EVER SINCE THE FIRST TIME Delaney Knight had gained the ability to open her mouth and let out a string of coherent words that weren't the typical babbles of a toddler, she was taught to lie. From telling her friends at school her real name, to casually letting her home address slip, to even announcing her sun, moon and rising sign (lest anyone figure out her birth date and time). All lies. Nothing said could be used to trace back to her family or identity, for tracing back to her family made her a target. And to make John Knight's only daughter a target would only serve to make them weak.

DELANEY HAD NEVER GAVE much thought to the lives her family likely ruined in their quest for infamy and power  - in fact she actively avoided going down that rabbit hole. She was more than content to live in blissful ignorance, allowing her father and brother to do the dirty deeds she wouldn't have the stomach to bear. Her duties to her family never strayed past reconnaissance work - her pleasant appearance and charming nature allowing them close access to New York's finest and grimiest.
