DESPITE NEVER HAVING MUCH of a personal urge to engage in the social media networks that had slowly grew in usage throughout Peter Parker's childhood before eventually exploding to mass popularity in recent years, he knew all too well that these days it was near impossible for anyone living to not be mentioned online. Whether it was an old MySpace page someone had forgotten to retire from their preteen years, a Facebook account they used to keep in touch with relatives and friends, or a Twitter where they would spam tweet their favourite celebrities.

Even Peter himself had an old, unused Facebook account, but only because Gwen had forced him to make it so she could prove to her haughty judgemental grandmother that she did have a real boyfriend.

Of course there were a few million Google results for his spider alter-ego, but even simply as Peter Parker, someone who liked to fly under the radar, he was discoverable on numerous places on the web. Some from news articles of his parents death, others from small, local reports about various science awards he had won in school.

With that in mind, the Internet seemed a perfect place to begin to start unravelling the absolute mystery that was Blair Wallace, also known as 'Laney'. At the very least, he hoped it would confirm if she had either lied to Peter about her name or lied to Spider-Man.

The only problem? It was as if she never existed.

The brunette must have tried a dozen different variations and spellings of her name, and sure enough other people across the world had been called that and returned in the results. But there was absolutely no record of the Laney/Blair that he knew. No social media account, no mention in articles, not even a tagged picture or post mentioning anyone with that name. Peter had been staring at the screen in disbelief for a few minutes now.

It was mind blowing to say the least, concerning to say a little more. Perhaps she had given him a fake name both times? Although she had to have at least been registered in college as 'Blair', for the professor had called upon her with that name. The more he began to unravel about the mysterious blonde the more confusing she became to him, and the more he wanted to find out.

Was she using a well faked alias?

Could she be in witness protection? And have to use a new name? It would certainly explain the attacks...

Could she be a ghost? One only he, and somehow Professor Martin, could see?

He rolled his eyes at his last guess, as traumatised as the young man was he wasn't completely delusional.

Of course there was always the possibility that maybe she just spelled her name in a combination of letters that he hadn't tried yet. Perhaps she truly was just a normal girl who was lucky enough to have no online footprint. Perhaps Peter was just focusing all of his energy onto this one woman to avoid facing his own trauma and issues.
