Chapter 2

'Huh, he was strange- he didn't tell me what the ceremony is for...' I sigh and continue to walk through the small town. After a while I realise I don't know where the stores are so I jog up to the first person I see, she had her curly brown hair tied up with a ribbon and chestnut brown eyes. "Um...Excuse me? do you think you could show me where the shops are? I'm new here and really need to buy food." I ask the girl quietly. The woman looks at me and nods "follow me," she says smiling. We begin walking to the stores but I here her start to speak in her soft voice, "I heard you talking to my brother Camilo, my name is Dolores. So, will you be joining us for the ceremony?" I look at her, still trailing slightly behind, "I'm Y/n and I'm sorry but I don't even know what the ceremony is for," I reply, frowning slightly.

Dolores explains to me about the Madrigal family, the gifts and the encanto. "Oh! So the gift ceremony is like a right of passage, you each get your gift so you can help cultivate the encanto? woah, you're family sounds really cool Miss Dolores," I smile at her. She smiles back, "just call me Dolores, we're friends now Y/n- oh we're here, anyways I'll see at the ceremony later, bye. Dolores waves and walks away, so I turn and look at the stores.

After buying the groceries, I head back home and put everything in their rightful places. "Hey Abuelo, later I'll be going to this ceremony thing at the family Madrigal's house, will you be coming?" I ask as I walk through to where he is, he shakes his head "I need to continue unpacking, and I'm a bit tired anyways." I smile slightly "okay, until then I will be in my room if you need me," I go upstairs to my room.

-Time skip to the ceremony-

Once I get dressed(choose whatever you want), I look at myself in the mirror 'this should be good enough,' I smile slightly and leave the house. I walk up the house covered in decorations, following the crowd and assuming this is where I'm meant to go. As I get closer I hear music, looking around slightly I notice Camilo by the door, greeting people. They finally notice me and his eyes seem to light up, "ah, mi flor! you made it!" they smile as I wave slightly. "Why do you call me that? I have an actual name you know," I smile back, they laugh slightly and their smile turns into a grin, "flor suits you though." I blush very faintly and shake my head, "my name is Y/n, I already know yours, Camilo." I wink then walk inside.

I feel a hand on my shoulder which makes me jump in panic. A soft laugh comes from next to me, I turn to see Dolores smiling, "oh! it's just you, you scared me, I take a deep breath and smile at her. "Hehe sorry Y/n. It's great that you could come, also I heard you talking to Camilo, he seems to have taken a liking to you," she looks at me in almost a teasing manner. "I-I don't think so, they're just a tease, I'd like to get to know them more though," I look to the side slightly, not realising that Camilo was walking up to us. Dolores took notice of them and pushes me into them, he catches me immediately "we gotta stop meeting this way, Mi flor." they wink at me and help me stand up, I instantly glare at Dolores, who just smiles and walks away.
