Sunflowers

I remember a poem I wrote for you when I was blind, lost in the immense darkness of love, a bittersweet mixture with a soft taste of pain.

Thus I realized that the summer's heat and the sea's waves take me to where I never imagined I'd return, back to your arms where once I called it home.

On the pretty words soaked in sorrows, I remember comparing you to a sunflower's field, blooming, growing between lines and knots.

I dodged hurricanes, got lost in abysses, but at the top of the cliff, I've always found you smiling.

Rainy springs don't bear fruits, bear seeds. I ever watered your thorns tooth and nail.

I can't go back and reach the last leaf of that trunk. The wind runs faster than a heart in tears.

And there another spring ends my little sunflower. I planted you on my rainy memories with sunny afternoons.

Lipe.
