Airplanes land down quickly in the hanger bay as I entered into the room with my father. Two rows of new recruits are linked up all staring at us. My eyes scanned the group and I have to bite my tongue at searching for Rafe. My father tips his captain hat up on his head using his stern face with these young boys. "Good afternoon gentlemen, today is the beginning of the rest of your life. Flying airplanes in the US Army. I'm not going to take it easy on any of you because in times of war things cannot be easy. So I'm going to push you until you can handle ant situation that could happen when souring in the skies..." My father glanced over the rows seeing two boys whispering and eyeing me which makes him get to his number one rule much quicker than either of us planned. "Since two of your own think it's okay to make goo goo eyes at my daughter I'm gonna skip straight to the end. My daughter is off limits. If I catch anyone of you flirting with her, kissing her or trying to date her in any way. I'll keep your butt on the ground instead of up in the sky. Is that clear!"

"Yes, sir!" The recruits shout back but my father hollered again. "Is that clear!" Once more they answered his question without hesitation. "Yes, sir!" I step up eyeing the crowd acting like I want to follow my father's rule, questioning the group a third time. "Is that clear boys!" I suck in a breath finally locking eyes with Rafe who secretly stares back at me without my dad noticing. "Yes, ma'am!" Weeks have passed and training has been good for all of them. My father's rule has been followed pretty well until today that is. Climbing into one of the empty planes I flip on the controls staring the engine and I place my hands on the controls. I've never flown out of the hanger bay in my life. I know all the flight controls like the back of my hand. But women in this world aren't allowed to do much, especially fly. Most men believe we're too emotional to have many jobs or that we're better at home all day taking care of the kids.

"You're not supposed to be in that seat." Whipping my head around I see one of the boys who started at me on their first day. Turning off the engine I lay my right arm out the window looking down at the man. He's no where near as attractive as Rafe or Danny. "I don't believe you should be in here. You're supposed to be running laps outside with the others." I explained as he started climbing up into the plane, leaning down where I feel his hot breath in my face. "I already finished my laps doll. So I thought I'd get my butt in one of these before anyone else. But now that you're here, I'd rather be sleeping with you." Raising my right hand up I slap him across the face in anger and discomfort. I've never slept with anyone and it sure as hell isn't going to be with someone like him. The guy grabs his burning cheek about to slap me back but someone grabbed him by the back of his shirt. "Why you little bitch, I'll-" He gets thrown on his back on the ground and I leaned up out of the plane seeing its Rafe who pinned him down.

Multiple sounds of footsteps entered the bay and my father pushed through the crowd shouting at the two boys. "What the hell is wrong with you boys. Someone better explain what happened here right now!" He sees one boy bleeding as Rafe released him. I climbed out of the plane stepping closer to my father than the boys. "Dad, one of them tried to hit me after I hit him for insulting me." He stepped up eyeing Rafe and the other guy. "Which one hit you, sweetheart?" Turning my body I point to the boy holding his still burning red cheek. My father stomped up snatching him off the ground and punching him right in the nose, knocking him to the ground harshly. "Consider this a warning for every single one of you. You lay a hand on my daughter and you'll be kicked out of my unit!" He declared to the room as I glanced to Rafe out of the corner of my eye. My father stepped over to me as the guy got to his feet and all the others exited the room without a second thought. "We're you the one who got him off her?" Rafe saluted my father when he saw he was speaking to him. "Yes, sir. I finished early and heard him yelling at her. So I intervened."

"What's your name, son?" Dad asked holding a small smile honored that he protected me. Rafe puts his arms down at his side back stiffened hoping he didn't do something wrong. "Rafe McCawley, sir." Glancing from him then to my father I hold back a smile that Rafe protected me. Dad raises a hand pating him on the shoulder leaving the room, so we're alone just me and Rafe. Rafe turns to face me letting his shoulders drop in relief and I apparently do the same. "Thank you helping me back there, Rafe." He grins at hearing me say his name, rubbing the back of his neck in nervousness. "He was an ass. He shouldn't talk to you like that. I on the other hand know how to treat a girl right. Uh would you mind of I bought you a drink, Y/n...oh crap I shouldn't call you that." I giggled at seeing him stuttering and I blush a little at hearing him say my name. "It's fine for you to call me that, Rafe. I'm not gonna punch you in the face for it." He clears his throat holding his arm out for and I let him lead me to the bar near the base.
