We were all waiting for Haley and Kaydi to return from Haley's last gymnastics practice until her big meet. We set up the party at Maria's house because hers is a lot bigger than then the rest of ours. We had put navy blue and white streamers across the bar and in the kitchen. At the time we were hanging around and eating a snack before the big party. I walked over to Hannah and started to talk to her about about the new book I was reading until we hear a buzz. Maria looks at her phone and gasped. I didn't worry that much because it was only Kaydi's mom. She was probably calling to say sorry for being late. Maria picks up the phone and leaves the room. When she returns she has tears running down her face a is shaking her head back and forth. The rest of us just looked at her until she says : " Haley and Kaydi were hit by a drunk truck driver on their way home. They are both in critical condition." without another word I grabbed my key and so did the others and headed for the hospital.
