SKYLAR SPENT MOST DAYS OF HER PRISON SENTENCE doing absolutely meaningless things like laying in bed, or singing a song, and every now and again, braiding her hair. After years of having to scrape up all she could for her and Maxon to survive, lockup was like vacation in a way. Just one that would end in her untimely demise.

This particular day, she was staring at the ceiling, up into space imagining a world that she wasn't waiting to die. One that her and Max felt free in, where they didn't have to worry, where their parents were alive. She scoffed at the idea of it and turned to the side as the door to her cell opened up, making her jump to her feet.

From the many shock lashings she had received in her life, she knew not to stray from what The Guard wanted.

"Prisoner 349, face the wall." One of the men spoke, Sky obeying immediately.

Her distain for these men had grown exponentially over the two years she had spent in lockup, but to stop her from suffering more than needed, she always tried to respect them. "Hold your right arm out."

Skylar looked to the side where they removed a metal bracelet from a case gently.

"Want to tell me what the hell is going on?" The Estrada girl questioned with her brows furrowed as she held her arm out.

They latched it tightly onto her wrist, the girl cringing at how it felt, like her arm was now trapped in it's own little prison.

"Give me all personal belongings." The man spoke simply, ignoring her question with his hand extended towards her.

"You want a free handout, get it yourself, asshole." Sky gestured towards the few items she had laying on the floor, hiding the fact that she had a bracelet her and Maxon made tucked into the waistband of her pants. "Wait—... my belongings? You only take those when we are about to get floated... I know i've been going nuts but it isn't my time yet."

Skylyn tried to wiggle from the guards grasp as he gripped onto her, the girl shrieking protest.

"Stop it!" Tears gushed down her face as the other guard took a hold of her legs, keeping her completely still. "Please, just stop."

The world started to feel dizzy around the girl as she trashed in their arms. Everything happening was a bit too much for her to handle by that point, especially since she was convinced she was going to die. Sky heard other people yelling from outside her cell, only furthering her fear.

They were killing everyone.

"Please." She begged, now sobbing as they dragged her out of the room.

As another man came over, she felt a prickling feeling in her arm, and within seconds, she was asleep.
