**Nathan's POV**

I woke up quickly enough after fainting and was fine, I think I was just in shock about what had just happened. Hannah was whisked off to the hospital in the ambulance, and I went with her, while Tom went back to let everyone know what had happened, he said he'd catch up with me later. I was sick with worry, the nurses kept reassuring me that Hannah would be fine but that still didn't stop the awful and guilty thoughts running through my mind. After Hannah had been properly treated I was allowed in to see her, she looked so pale, so thin, so fragile. Dark shadows of tiredness resting underneath her eyes, and bruises all along her poor body. I wanted nothing more than to break into the police station and give those two evil people hell for what they'd done to my girl. The police caught them whilst they were trying to get away from the fire. I sat down next to Hannah, she was still sleeping and looked so peaceful, her chest rising and falling with each breath she took. I let out a big sigh, at least she was safe now, and gently reached out an arm and delicately took hold of her hand in mine. She began to stir and I looked up to see her gorgeous deep ocean blue eyes staring at me. No words were said in those first few moments, but tears both beagn to fall from our faces and as I stood up, I gently placed a hand on her cheek and whispered,

"Its ok, its alright, you're safe now, you're with me...you're with me," and then I leaned in close to her and she tilted her head back slightly, closing her eyes as she did so and taking a deep breath, in that instant I kissed her, gently and delicately, as to not hurt her, but to let her know that I was there for her, and that I'd keep her safe from here on out.

**Hannah's POV**

I woke up in a hospital bed, to find Nathan kneeling down beside me, holding my hand and looking so sad and forlorn. He glanced up to see me gazing at him, and as the memories from earlier this evening came flooding through, I couldn't stop the waterfall of tears falling from my eyes and cascading down cheeks. Nathan stood up and whispered reassuring words to me and then kissed me, slowly and delicately, and I knew he was trying hard not to hurt me. When we broke away I glanced over at the clock sitting on the wall, ten past midnight. As I looked up at Nathan again I realised that he looked so tired and troubled, he's probably not had any sleep at all.

"You need to sleep," I whispered to him, I felt too weak to talk,

"I'm not leaving you, not again." He said with certainty, and I admitted defeat. Nathan began to sing lyrics from Personal Soldier, his deep, angelic voice floating through the air, and as I listened I realised the meaning behind the lyrics and how appropriate they were right now, and as Nathan kept singing, softly and quietly, I drifted in and out of consciousness.

I opened my eyes to find bright morning light streaming in through the window in my ward. I figured I must have fallen asleep eventually, even though nightmares had kept me up half the night. I sat up in bed and winced in pain as I brushed against the bruises along my body. I glanced over at Nathan, he was lying slumped in the chair beside my bed, sleeping soundly. Green eyes closed and breathing heavily, although with a troubled look on his face.

When he woke up, I had to nearly force him to go home. He was reluctant to leave but I told him he needed to go and see Smudge and let everyone know what's happened. I didn't want him to go either but it was best for both of us. Before he left he told me that my kidnappers had been caught which gave me a peace of mind. He asked if I knew how they'd known where we lived and I told him about Rory, then I said I was worried about Sophie. But he told me that Rory had broken up with her. I felt so awful for poor Soph, she really loved him and he just used her as a way for his evil sister to get to me.

The hours dragged by in slow progression but I was told by the doctors that I'd be able to leave my lunchtime, there'd been no real damage to me, just a few bruises and smoke inhalation. As I got changed out of my hospital gown and into my own clothes, I walked down the hallway to the exit and entrance of the hospital and saw Nathan, Sophie, Siva, Nareesha, Tom, Kelsey, Jay and Max all walk through the automatic glass doors. When they saw me I watched relief pass over all their faces, and before I knew what had happened I was enveloped in a big group hug by all of them. I winced slightly in the pain as they crushed me against their chests, but smiled my way through. It was just great to see them all.

"Hannah, oh my god Hannah I'm so so sorry!" Sophie said to me, sobbing, "It's all my fault I'm so sorry,"

"Hey, Sophie? It's alright, its ok, its not your fault at all, not in the slightest," I said to her, and after many minutes of reassuring her and everyone that I was truly fine we walked out of the hospital on high spirits and laughs and with smiles on our faces in the strong August sunlight. No one wanted to mention what had happened and to be honest I'm so glad, I don't think I can deal with questions about my experience right now. I know I'll need to give a statement to the police soon but I'll deal with that when the time comes.

"Hannah, umm could you come with me for a moment?" Nathan asked me, after everyone went their separate ways. "Want to take a walk along the riverbank?"

"Yeah, sure," I replied, Nathan looked unsure and slightly anxious, but I just took his hand in mine as we walked along the path beside the river which ran past the hospital. The sunlight glinted off its waters making it sparkle and ducks bobbed along beside us happily. The birds sang high in the trees above us and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Everything looked so perfect. We reached the end of the path, which lead us to a small waterfall, and Nathan stopped there and let go of my hand. He looked straight at me with his piercing and mesmerizing green-eyed stare, and said to me as he reached inside his jacket pocket,

"I was planning on doing this on the night you were taken, but I never got the chance until now," I watched, silently, my heart beating quickly in my chest, realising what was happening in a daze, as Nathan pulled out a small diamond ring and got down on one knee before me,

"Hannah, you are perfect in every way and I love you more than anyone can ever imagine. I want to spend the rest of my days with you forever. Will you marry me? Will you be my wife?"

Tears of happiness filled my eyes as I realised I wanted nothing more than this, I nodded and whispered,

"Yes, yes Nathan of course I will!" And as I finished my sentence Nathan ever so carefully slid the small, beautiful engagement ring onto my finger,

"This day will stay gold forever and ever," whispered to him, and as Nathan stood up, looking at me with his eyes full of love and passion, I stood up on my tip-toes and sealed the memory with a kiss.
