Omniscient Pov

... was harder than Haru had anticipated. Although he shared all the information he had with Daisuke and called Y/n back to re-do all her statements, the case was still hard. When you look on the outside, it's easy:

Girl comes forward about someone sneaking into her room at night and confessing to several murders. Girl also just so happens to go to a school where several murders have occurred, all lining up with what this person is saying. Girl now has a clear memory of the persons face and gives the police a name and face with this person just also happened to go to the school where the murders happened.

Simple, right?

Wrong. They had no actual evidence, which is what got under Haru's skin the most. They had a confession, but if they bring this to court what would be their evidence? 'Just trust me bro'? No one would believe them. They needed to get concrete evidence or this case would go cold.

Haru couldn't let that happen. The sons that were lost needed justice. Their families needed closure.

No matter how many sleepless nights it took,

he would bring Kozume Kenma and whoever the hell he was working with to justice.

"I'm sorry."

The ravenette stood in front of the h/c haired girl with his head down apologetically. The girl, obviously confused from this out of nowhere apology.

"For what?" she asked.

"For making you uncomfortable," he supplied. "When the team was still... a team," he paused, his eyes watering a little. It was all an act. Kuroo wasn't sad. He would do it again if he had to as well. He started over. "Before the team disbanded for... obvious reasons I noticed that you tended to shy away from me. I had just assumed you were uncomfortable with me so I thought I should apologize. I'm sorry."

"No no you have the wrong idea! I just don't really talk to people older than me, that's all."

"But you talked to Kai."

"He was like a big brother."

"And Yaku."

"He wasn't intimidating."

"But I am?" Y/n was at a loss for words. She didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying he was intimidating but she didn't know what else to say.

This is how Kuroo liked it.

He didn't like seeing her in the hallway yelling the other day. He liked the quiet Y/n. The submissive Y/n. Not the loud Y/n. Not the talking back Y/n. This made him question if he actually really liked her for her, or just the fact that he knew it would be easy to overpower her.

"Are you scared of me Y/n? I promise I don't bite."

"I'm not scared of you, it's just..."

"Just what? I promise I'm not as scary as I look. Just ask Kenma, I'm a total nerd. Anyway, I just wanted to apologize."

"Okay."

"Do you accept my apology?"

"Oh! Yeah I do. You didn't need to, I already told you that."

Kuroo turned around and Y/n waved him goodbye. Finally, he was gone. Truth was, Y/n didn't have trouble talking to people as long as she had a topic to talk to them about that would last more than five minutes, even if they were older than her. But Kuroo...

Kuroo was another story.

His presence was just... overbearing. Every time he looked at her Y/n felt like he was undressing her with his eyes. And she wasn't the only one who felt this way. Her friends had said the same thing.

He was a creep.

Well, they didn't know that. That's just what they labeled him as.

Kuroo the creep.

Had a nice ring to it, so it stuck.

✈︎

Kenma watched Kuroo apologize to Y/n for something. For what, he had no clue.

Get away from her, you creep.

Kenma couldn't even say that. I mean look at the situation:

Kenma likes a girl and tells his friend just to find out he likes her as well. Instead of a rivalry forming, their bond becomes stronger than it was before. Their obsession with her snowballs to the point where the two are killing people. Living, breathing people have died because of them. And not just one or two either. It was five. And now? Now Kenma was peeping on her from around the corner. He really was

"Pathetic," he whispered under his breath. So consumed in his thoughts he didn't realize that Kuroo had stopped talking to Y/n and was now walking away. Upon hearing this word, he stopped dead in his tracks.

"What did you say?" he asked. Kenma, now scared of him, shied away from Kuroo.

"P-pathetic." he stuttered. He hated that he was scared of him now. They used to be friends and now look at them. Kenma, scared and backed up into a corner for saying a word and Kuroo leaning over him menacingly.

"Don't say that word again. Don't you dare say that word ever again." He stalked off, leaving Kenma confused as to why he got so triggered over a word.
