Intro: Natsu and Lucy are stuck in a mine when they are suddenly caved in. It's up to Happy to get someone from the guild to come save them! What can Natsu and Lucy do since they're stuck in a cave?

"Ah, now that was a workout." Natsu said while he cracked some bones. Lucy just nodded along and looked around at the destruction that was caused while she kept heaving breaths out. They were sent to take care of some monsters that were in a mine near a town that was causing lots of chaos and destruction. The mine took a lot of damage not only from themselves, but from the monsters trying to fight back. Lots of rocks had fallen during the attacks, it was a wonder nobody was hit!

Happy popped up beside them, of course flying. "We should be getting back. It took a lot out of us to beat them! Plus I can smell Lushi from here!" Happy snickered at the end. "I DON'T SMELL, YOU STUPID CAT!" Lucy yelled and started chasing him. Natsu just let out a laugh and started to casually follow them towards the mine entrance. By then Happy was far ahead of Lucy and already flying high in the air outside while laughing and repeating, "Lushi is stinky, Lushi is stinky!"

Before anyone could really notice, rocks started to fall at the entrance of the mine, Lucy tried to beat them and make it out, but almost got hit if it weren't for Natsu pulling her back. After a couple of seconds, the entire entrance was closed off, leaving them in nothing but darkness. Lucy was on the ground curled up while Natsu was on top of her, where he was seconds before, blocking her from getting hit from any of the rocks. After a few moments of nothing but silence, Natsu got off and laid on the ground beside her, reflecting on the things that just happened. He heard a sudden yell from outside the cave "Natsu, Lushi, you guys okay?!" He could tell by how Happy's voice sounded that he was worried.

"Yeah, we're good, Happy! Though we're stuck in here, I used too much power dealing with the monsters, I won't be able to do anything to get the rocks to let loose, and I don't think Luce can either, we're pretty much out of energy." Natsu replied while looking at Lucy, double checking to make sure that she wasn't physically harmed, just out of power. Happy, from outside, looked at the rocks that covered the entrance. He could try to get them out, but he's not sure he'd be able to lift the rocks, and he could make the rocks fall on them if he pulled or tugged the wrong way. There was only one thing he could do, go get help. "I'll be back later guys! I'll go get some help from the guild." And with that, he was off.

Inside Lucy and Natsu just stared up at the ceiling of the cave, still in total darkness. "Natsu...?" Natsu heard Lucy call out his name, and turned where he could see her figure just slightly, since he can see more with his dragon senses. "Yeah, Luce?" Lucy let out a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. "Are you okay?" Natsu looked at her in disbelief, though she couldn't tell. How could she ask him if he was okay, when she was the one who was almost squished and was the one he threw on the ground to escape the falling rocks. "Luce, I should be asking you if you're okay! I'm fine, but you were the one who was almost crushed! You should watch out more and be more careful." He lightly scolded her. He wasn't trying to be mean, but he did care about her safety. "Yeah but you were the one who covered me and received any of the blows from the rocks..." He could hear how Lucy's voice shook, like she was about to cry any moment now.

He slowly scooted over towards her and wrapped his arms around her, "Luce, I'm fine. None of the rocks hit me, I just did that so in case any did fall down, that you wouldn't receive the hit." He lied just a little bit, he did get hit with one rock, but it was so small, the most it will do is leave a tiny bruise if that much. After a couple of minutes of just laying there, Natsu let go of Lucy and raised up. "Well, there's not much we can do here but wait it seems." Lucy snorted at what Natsu had said. "Well, what do you expect when you are caved in? Dummy." Lucy was going back into her normal routine of joking around and teasing him, and Natsu couldn't help but smile at that.

They sat there for a few hours, by then their eyes had adjusted to the dark really well, so they were able to move around some, but not much since rocks were pretty much everywhere. They mostly joked around and tried to keep their minds off of the situation they were in. They both knew that Fairy Tail would come at some point to let them out, they just had to wait a little longer it seemed. They were probably trapped inside for about 3 hours now, making it about 4 in the evening. Lucy hadn't had anything since breakfast that morning, so she was getting hungry, and Natsu hadn't had anything since 11, when it was his, "before lunch" snack. If they were stuck there any longer, Lucy would have to call Virgo to bring some bedding or something for them to use to sleep on, but she was hoping to avoid that, because she doesn't have much power, and since she's been closed in, there was no way for her to get her magic energy back. So if she called Virgo out, she would most likely pass out or be close to passing out with as low energy as she has.

Honestly she hoped it wouldn't be much longer before Happy arrived with Fairy Tail. It was getting really hot inside the cave on top of the other problems. Hearing her name being called, Lucy snapped out of her daydreaming. Looking over to Natsu, she could tell he was patiently waiting for her to answer. "Hm, what was it you were saying Natsu?" She honestly hadn't meant to ignore him. "I was hoping we could play a game!" Natsu replied excitedly. "Like, 20 questions or something!" Seeing as there wasn't really anything else they could do, Lucy decided that playing a game wasn't such a bad idea. "Sure, why not. Would you like to go first?" Lucy asked. Looking at Natsu you could see him really thinking about it. Lucy couldn't figure out why it would take someone so long to figure out if they wanted to go first or not, but she didn't try to disturb him, figuring it would be best to just wait it out. After a minute or two Natsu agreed to go first. By the time he picked what he was thinking about, several more minutes had passed by, Lucy was starting to rethink her decision of playing a game with him. "Alright Luce, I am ready! You can start asking questions now!" Natsu said excitedly. Just by looking at the big grin on his face, Lucy figured it was either something really easy, or something really hard. "Hm...okay. Is it a person?" She figured that would be the best question to ask first, seeing as it's Natsu after all. "Nope!" Sighing, she asked another one. "Is it an object?" Seeing his grin falter for a second, she already knew the answer before he said it. "Yes..." Natsu mumbled with a pout.

There were several rounds of the game before they grew tired, Lucy winning with a score of 8-6. Natsu was surprisingly good at guessing, she thought she had picked some pretty hard ones! Another hour had probably passed by, if not more, all they knew was that it was at least some time past 5'oclock. It was starting to get colder, but the guild should be there soon, so Lucy wasn't too worried. Looking over to Natsu she started to rethink her decision of not calling Virgo out. He looked really tired and hungry, which she was too, but just looking at him almost had her ready to call Virgo out. If it was too much longer, she may just do it. Lucy's been trying to put it off for as long as possible, she's so low on power, that Virgo's gate may not even fully open. Letting out a sigh Lucy leaned her head back against the cool wall of the cave. A little nap wouldn't hurt anyone...right?

40 minutes later...

Hearing loud voices, Lucy slowly started blinking her eyes, trying to wake up from her rest. Oddly enough, she felt very warm and struggled to stay awake and not just go back to sleep. Looking around she noticed that Natsu was right beside her, arms wrapped around her as if keeping her warm. Lucy could feel her cheeks get a little warm before realizing she could still hear voices. Looking in the direction she heard the voices from, she started to recognize voices. "Is this the place?" She had heard the voice that sounded like her red-headed teammate. "Yeah! Natsu and Lushi is in this cave, I'm sure of it!" She could hear Happy say. Grinning brightly she realized that it was finally time for them to be able to escape and get home!

Turning her head, she kissed Natsu on the cheek before saying, "Won't be long, just hang in there!" And with that, she slowly removed his arms from around her so he wouldn't wake up, and moved from beside him to a standing position. Her legs were almost asleep, but she made it over to the caved-in entrance so she could talk to her teammates and try to find a way to help them in getting her and Natsu out of there. Doing so, she missed her pink-haired teammate, opening his eyes, and looking at her with pink cheeks. He had been awake for it all, and now he knew exactly what he was going to do once they got out of there. For now, all he had to do was focus on helping Lucy and the others with removing the rocks from the entrance, if he had enough energy that is. Standing up, he made his way over to Lucy, who was communicating with the others through the pile of rocks. Standing slightly behind her, he started to think of many ways to get her to be his girlfriend. Man, he was fired up now!

(I am SO sorry about not posting for awhile now! In the last chapter/author note, I wrote a little about what has happened the past few months, but it's still no excuse. Especially with how this story ended. This is NOT the best I could have done, I personally know that and hope I do better in the next one. It has been such a long time since I worked on this short story, I had no idea where I had been planning on going with this story, but I hope it's good enough to suffice until I get more written. Let me know if you enjoyed this story or not, and what I should change up or work on. Thanks for reading!)
