chapter 9
Mar
Mar couldn't believe Artemis had survived the void, had come out of it unscratched. No not quite unscratched she had seen cuts on her arms, healing but there.
She wondered how she had survived it. Was it because her powers had helped create it or was it something else.
She hit the punching bag, her fists connecting with it making it swing viscously. Her hand felt numb from too hard punches, again she though, another punch and then a kick. She watched the bag swing.
"I would hate to be the target of your anger." Klaus said as he walked into the room.
She ignored him, Kicking the punching bag harder.
"Is it that girl?" He asked, leaning against the door frame watching her.
Again she ignored him.
"Who is she anyways?"
She held back a growl of annoyance, why couldn't he leave her alone for once! He was always around when she wanted to be alone, always joking always, too much.
"Yes!" she finally said, punch. "She's nobody."
"It doesn't look like she's nobody."
"It's none of your business." She turned to look at him, she wasn't in the mood for this. Her eyes met his as she glared at him, hoping he would get the hint. Instead he pushed off the wall and walked further into the room. She wondered what he was doing.
"Spare with me space girl." He said as he walked over to one of the mats in the center of the room.
Fine by me, she thought hitting a living target was always more satisfying anyways. She followed him onto the mat and they each took their position.
He struck first throwing his fist out at her face but she was prepared for it, blocking the punch. She grabbed his wrist. She spun around him writs in hand, she pined his arm to his back.
mar felt his skin heat up moments before flames burst from him. Jumping away from him she gave him the nasties glare she had.
"that's cheating."
He just shrugged the fames dying down. "You never set rules."
Fine she thought if he wanted to play it that way. She summoned the starlit darkness around her hands and stuck out at him, watching as he had to do a backflip to avoid it. She smiled as she watched him right himself. Charging him. Fists closed as she stuck him in the stomach. Klaus grunted.
Mar kicked him her right foot connecting with his side hard. Causing him to utter a curse under his breath. But before she could pull her leg away she felt his hand wrap around it causing her to almost lose her balance. She reached out a hand to right herself on his shoulder.
He winked at her, and she rolled her eyes as she tried to find the best way to take him down.
"I think this is a stale mate." he said, his other arm locking around her waist trapping her to him.
"is that right." she said as she called her power to her, she watched the pain as it entered his face as the starlight burned into his shoulder. He immediately let go.
"well that's not nice"
She didn't say anything to that. He was the one who wanted to use powers during this.
Klaus's hands formed into another fist as he came at her but she dodged it, ducking down as she swung a foot out tripping him and before he could get up, she was on top of him pinning him down one hand on his neck.
"Okay, okay I give." He said as she let him up, she gave him a slight smiled before letting it fall again.
"Thanks." she said as she got off him and started to walk towards the door.
"Mar!" he called after her. "Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?"
She kept walking.
'What do you think will happen to us when we're older?' Artemis asked.
Mar rolled over to look at her best friend.
'We'll go to greenwood together, like we always planned.'
They could hear the noise of the TV as they laid in bed.
She sighed as she entered her room and made her way to the bathroom. She needed a shower. She turned on the water, letting it warm up before stripping out of her work out cloth, letting it fall to the floor. She didn't bother to pick it up as she slid into the shower. Letting the water run over her tired body. It had been a long day.
Artemis standing in the middle of the room, stars swirling around her hands, How could she be alive?
'it's been a long time Mar' Artemis's voice was soft unsure. It sparked anger in mars chest.
'I wish you had stayed dead' Mar finally said her shock turning into venom. "It would have saved me."
Mar let out a soft sighed
She wished that they had never met, that they had never been friends. She wanted to take it all back. All the promises and late-night talks, all their adventures together everything, once they had been as close as sister... it was a mistake Mar thought it was her greatest mistake.
'How could you! I trusted you!'
An explosion of starlight aimed at Artemis
'He's dead because of you!'
'I-I didn't mean to mar!' a cry, Artemis's voice cracked
