I had just finished cooking dinner when my fiancee, James, came through the door of the apartment we shared yelling my name like there was a fire. I turned off the stove and wiped my hands on my apron, removing it and placing it on the counter before leaving the kitchen.

I made my way into the living room where James was standing by the front door with a smile on his face so wide, it could challenge the Cheshire Cat.

"What are you so happy about?" I ask him while moving right in front of him.

I place my hands on the side of his face and tip toe to place a kiss on his smiling lips. He then takes me in his strong arms and spins me around while hugging me.

"What has got you in this good mood?" I demand while laughing at his antics.

He places me down on my feet and stares into my eyes. If he doesn't tell me what's going on I will scream!

"Baby, I got the promotion!"

I gasp at his words. Seven months ago, a month after he proposed to me, James told me that his company was opening another office in a new town and would need someone to go there and manage it along with build up the business there.

There were twelve other candidates for the position but James worked his butt off from the moment he found out he was being considered. He was also ecstatic because he was the only black man in the bunch and he got the job!

"Baby, this means I am one step away from being partner if I can prove myself in this new town." he states with his smile still huge.

"So, this means we're moving right?"

He nods. "I know you love your job down here but..."

I hold up my hand to stop him. "I'm pretty sure there are plenty of animal hospitals in the area where we're going."

I smile as he leans down and captures my lips with his. He hugs me to him tightly during our lip lock and I feel his hands grip my ass possessively.

"I love you munchkin." he whispers against my lips.

I playfully scowl at him. I hate that nickname, he constantly loves to point out how much shorter I am. Standing at 5'5, he is about six inches taller than me.

I push him off me and turn to head to the kitchen. "Dinner is ready if you're hungry." I call to him over my shoulder.

I hear him follow me and once he's in the kitchen he grabs two plates from the cupboard, handing me one. We fill the plates with chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.

"This looks so good. Thank you baby." James states while piling food on his plate. He gives me a kiss on the side of my head before heading to the dining room.

I follow him and place my plate on the table across from him. I then run back to the kitchen and grab a bottle of wine and two glasses. I return to the living room and hand him a glass while putting mine on the table.

"I think your terrific news is cause for a celebration." I smile down at him as he had already taken a seat.

He smiles and then nods as I open the wine bottle. I fill his glass and then I fill mine. I place the bottle on the table and walk to my seat. After sitting down I raise my glass, James does the same.

"Here's to the start of your rising career and many happy memories in the new town we're moving to." I smile while making the toast.

"Hear, hear." James states and clinks his glass with mine.

We take a sip of our wine at the same time and James tells me he's going to buy a house in the new town for us. I am so happy at hearing that because I was tired of living in our small apartment. This also meant I could finally get a dog! Ooh, I always wanted a Great Dane.
