Really?
Two wizards soared high in the vibrant blue sky, the air filled with exhilaration and danger. They performed daring stunts, twisting and turning with such audacity that one could argue it should be illegal. But they didn't care. Oh no, they absolutely didn't care. They were thriving on the thrill, completely in their element, laughter and joy radiating from them like sunlight.
Sirius Black watched with a mixture of pride and worry as his godson, Harry, maneuvered adeptly around him. Harry executed a flawless double spin before diving towards the ground, his delighted shouts echoing in the open sky. Lily, his mother, must have been having a heart attack. Sirius could almost hear her voice — he was going to get an earful when they landed. But the sheer joy of seeing Harry's laughter, bubbling up like the warmest of potions, made it all worthwhile. It wasn't as though he wasn't being careful. No, absolutely not; he had discreetly placed several cushioning charms on the ground — a secret he intended to keep from Harry. Because if the boy discovered it, he would undoubtedly throw a tantrum, reminding his godfather, over and over again, that he was eleven years old for Merlin's sake, and quite firmly not a baby anymore.
And honestly, the last thing Sirius wanted to deal with was that kind of melodrama.
After another half-hour of gliding through the air and performing exhilarating tricks, they finally decided it was time to land. If only they could remain up there forever, soaring above the world. But even magic wouldn't make those brooms comfortable for too long.
As they touched down, Sirius heard a familiar voice cut through the air.
"Oh Merlin, look who decided to grace us with their presence. If it isn't my son and his idiot godfather," Lily remarked with an eyebrow raised in mock disapproval.
Harry snickered, and Sirius responded with a scoff of feigned injury. "Well, you make it quite clear," he retorted, flopping down onto the sofa and casually draping his legs over the coffee table. Seeing his wife's bemused expression, he continued, "How much you missed us."
Just then, Marlene entered the room, rolling her eyes at the theatrics. "Yeah, she and I missed you as much as you miss Filch," she chimed in, earning a laugh from Lily and a playful wink in her direction.
"Wounded, my darling! You've pierced my heart!" Sirius feigned a pout, adding to the laughter in the room.
Harry, unable to contain himself, burst into full-blown laughter, his cheeks flushed with mirth.
"Hey, Prongslet, whose side are you on, huh?" Sirius teased, directing his attention to the giggling boy.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and Harry bounced up with a wide grin. "Dad's!" he shouted, darting towards the main door.
They could hear Harry's excited voice questioning James, who replied with a tired smile that spoke of long hours at work.
James entered the living room, carrying Harry in a tight embrace, the boy's arms wrapped around his father's neck in an almost death grip. James scanned the room, taking in the sight of Lily busily arranging things in the open kitchen, engaged in a nearby discussion with Marlene, who seemed to be sharing a joke.
Sirius, conveniently sprawled on the sofa. James managed to distract Harry with a chocolate frog, and heading towards Lily, he felt a warmth spread in his chest when her eyes lit up at the sight of him. But as her gaze drifted to the dark circles under his eyes, the exhaustion he tried to mask for his family became painfully evident. He had been enduring a tough time at the Ministry; his workload had ballooned, especially following Sirius's close brush with death during his latest mission.
