"Pull off." Jess's hazel green eyes filled with unquestionable worry.
"Pull off darnit!"
Her friends grip became tighter on the black steering wheel.
"Jesus I'm dragging her ta church."
Kenzie tingled with relief and rage.
"You better be glad I know what's going on."
For a moment the swarm of voices halted.
Stepping on the pedal, Kenzie got thrown back in her seat.
Her throat was corded, lodged with words.

"Now in Jesus name your leaving her and she's going to get prayed for."
Kenzie once again felt squimesh.
Jess tore into the churches small parking lot, about twenty regulars had already arrived.
"Kenze, look at me."
Her friend took the key out of the ignition and faced her.

"I know you don't want anyone knowing about your falling out, but in order for you to be free, you need deliverance."
If anything was true that was, but a part of her wrestled with it.
Kenzie hadn't realized the impact of prayer until then, when Jess had commanded them to leave her alone.
It was like they were now bound.
Jess ushered her through the oak colored doors, hands around Kenzie's forearm.
There were a few older people chatting in the wooden pews; they flurried past them to a dim stairway.
"Deep breath sis."
Kenzie inhaled and exhaled obediently, heels clicking as they descended the stairs.
In the remodeled basement were the prayer warriors.
Shivers and awe shot up her spine.
They were deep in prayer, either on their knees or prostate on the hotel like carpet.
"Start asking for mercy, I'll get them to pray for you."
Jess tentatively approached Fatima, a petite stubby lady in her fifties.
Tapping her on the shoulder, the older lady straightened, listening as Jess whispered to her.
Fatima got up and knelt beside her as Jess rounded up the rest.
She yearned to be one of them, free and close to God.
Kenzie began to tremble as the nine or ten people surrounded her.
She was too afraid to feel shame, better yet she was horribly nauseas.
"Do you want to be free and leave that life behind?"
Kenzie recognized Elizabeth's voice but couldn't see her.
Would she go back? Never! Ugly imps!
"Yes."
She wondered how a yes, could hold so much energy.
Four of the younger males started to pray but were halted by Tony; the grey headed pastor.

"Kenzie its time to give your life back to the Lord, and only you can do that for yourself."
Everyone was silent, Jess appeared a bit uncomfortable sitting diagonal to her.
"We can pray all we want for you and God can deliver you, but it's your choice to maintain freedom."
Kenzie struggled with the words even though they were true.
"God knows I'll try my best."
At that she began to weep, crying in her heart with true repentance.

"Lord you redeem the souls of your servants and none that trust in you shall be desolate."
Who'd quoted it she didn't know, but as they prayed, that verse revived her.
In the moment freedom can be the best thing, many things will be against you; but He who is the greatest, He is for you.
