A REGULAR DAY OUT HUNTING, Aidan thought to himself as he wandered out of the cave behind Kit. The day was quick. They managed to kill two rabbits and a deer. Kit turned to face Aidan. "I think we should head back now." Before Aidan could reply he noticed something in the bushes a few metres ahead. A rabbit! Aidan held his hand up signalling Kit to be still and quiet. He slowly crept towards the rabbit on all fours. Rabbits were very fast, the trick was to be very quiet because their very good on hearing. The rabbit begun to sprint. Aidan looked down to notice he had stepped on a twig. Aidan stood up and sighed. Then he heard a squeal in the direction the rabbit had run. Aidan turned around and rolled his eyes. He didn't care about the rabbit anymore. He hated hunting. It was his least favourite thing to do on this island that was on his what to do list. The list was pretty much, raiding, defending and hunting. Not much. As the two begun to head back Aidan begun to wonder what made the rabbit squeal. He heard footsteps behind them so he quickly spun around. There's nothing there. THATS STRANGE, he thought to himself. Kit noticed too because the second he spun around he said, "could have sworn we were being followed." Aidan heard a twig snap behind him. As he turned back around he was terrified. Right in front of him was a big, grey wolf. It looked to be half his size. That was pretty big for a wolf. Aidan stood paralysed in fear. Aidan heard kit whisper. "Aidan, help me!" "Help you, I'm the one with the wolf-" Aidan paused as he noticed there was a second wolf in front of Kit. Aidan noticed the deer and the rabbits over Kit's shoulder. "Kit, through the meat!" Aidan whispered worriedly. Kit threw the rabbits and dropped the deer. The wolves ran after the rabbits and kneeled down to eat them. In that time Aidan had already climbed up a tree beside Kit. The wolves didn't even eat the rabbits. They just stood back up and padded over to the tree and growled. Aidan heard hissing next to him and thought it was a snake. Nope, it was only Kit, hissing at the wolves. Aidan had no idea what to do so he too hissed. The wolves just ground even more. Aidan gulped as he realised they had just made matters worse. Aidan noticed a coconut lying on the ground next to the tree. He looked up to notice the tree had coconuts. "Coconuts?" Kit sounded very surprised, and so he should be. Coconuts only grow on coconut trees. Aidan didn't have time to argue, he climbed further up and threw a couple coconuts down to Kit. As he slid back down the branch he noticed Kit had already started throwing. He too joined in. Sadly, the coconuts did nothing but anger the wolves even more. Aidan looked at Kit, but something else caught his eye. Kit's spear! Aidan grabbed Kit's spear and threw it at one of the wolves. It stabbed deep into the wolves back, killing it. Aidan laughed in delight. But then he remembered that there were two wolves. Aidan gulped as he realised, there was only one way they could get out of this, he had to go down and kill it himself. Aidan drew his dagger and got ready for what could most likely be death. As he jumped down he heard the wolves paws sprint across the ground towards him. He turned around just in time to see the Wolf leap straight at his face. Aidan ducked down and spun just in time to see it hit the ground behind him. It then spun around and leaped again. Something it would soon regret. Aidan thrust his dagger forward into the wolves chest. The wolf dies on top of him. Aidan pushed the wolf off and got up. As he sheaved his dagger he looked at the wolf. It had blood poring out of a hole in it's chest. POOR THING, Aidan thought, suddenly feeling terrible for killing it. Kit jumped down beside him. "How about we carry the wolves back for coats." "Winter is coming," Kit explained going to pick up the rabbits and deer. Aidan just shrugged his shoulders and grabbed the wolves. On the walk back to the cave, Aidan noticed something small, and white fall in front of him. As he noticed it was a snowflake, a chilly wind blew past him. WINTER IS COMING, he thought to himself. Winter was bad, it wasn't just cold, it would make food hard to find, and it would be hard to walk and run in the snow. Aidan sighed as he walked on by. By the looks of it... They were in for a terrible winter.
