Juliana's P.O.V.

I kept my head low as I walked the streets of Philadelphia, doing everything I could to not make eye contact with anyone on the street. I had run away from my father, Victor Krane, over two weeks ago, and I knew he would be sending men to look for me. I shuddered at the thought of what would happen to me if he found me. I wished that I didn't have to fear my father when I was only ten years old.

I looked up to see I was across the street from a hospital, my eyes widening. A hospital could help me! There could be policemen, there could be someone to help me, to help me figure out what my father had injected into me a few months ago.

I rushed into the hospital, heading for the emergency room. As soon as I walked into the room, I stopped. There were so many people. There was a line at reception, and I quietly joined it.

What am I supposed to say? What do I tell the lady when it's my turn?

"Oh, hello miss, can you help me? My dad is a psychopath who killed my mom and experimented on me, so I might be dead in a week, a month, a year, who knows?"

"Next!" The woman called, and I realized I was next in line. I cautiously approached. "What's your reason for visiting, miss?"

I froze.

"U-Um, excuse me," I whispered, looking away. "I'm in the wrong place."

I turned and walked away before she could say anything, running to the back of the room. I saw a storage closet and ran into it, glad to be away from the eyes of all those people. I sighed and leaned against the wall, but suddenly started to fall, so I grabbed onto a plunger handle. At the same moment I pulled it, a weird screen appeared on the wall!

I looked around, to see if there were cameras anywhere, but I couldn't find any. I looked back at the screen.

"Hey, this looks kind of familiar..." I muttered, walking up to the screen.

It was a picture, but it was broken up like a puzzle. I began to rearrange the pieces, realizing that I had made the symbol of the superhero Caduceo! My mom had given me one of his comics years ago, and I had always hidden it from my father. As soon as I put the picture together, the wall opened up. I cautiously walked towards it and looked to see another hospital operating behind the real hospital.

But this hospital was different. The people rushing around looked really weird, and some even had superhero costumes on!

"Whoa..." I said as I entered the hospital, looking around in awe. "Is this... a superhero hospital?"

"Hey!" I turned to see a boy around my age, who was short with black hair. "Who are you?"

"I'm not telling you," I said, getting defensive. "Who are you?"

"Oh no, you must be a normo! Normo! Normo!"

Everyone suddenly looked at me, and I jumped into fight or flight mode. I chose flight. I ran down the first clear hallway I saw, running as fast as I could and looking for a way out. I looked around and found an empty room, rushing in and quickly closed the door. I heard the people chasing me run past the room, and I let out a breath of relief.

I looked around to see I was in some kind of training room filled with weights and workout equipment. I also saw there was a fridge, and I ran to it. It had been weeks since I had eaten a proper meal, and I didn't care if it wasn't my food. I found a ham and cheese sandwich and practically gulped it down.

"Well, hello there."

I quickly turned to see a tall man with a gote and brown and silver hair, with a doctor's coat. He was looking at me with a curious expression, but I still felt scared. He was obviously someone with power.
