Bani entered to nihaal playing basketball, at the court built at the back of the house, it was shabby though, could use some renovation, but what was necessary was, that the basket was there. He grabbed hold of the ball, after it made the basket, when he noticed bani, a huge box in her hand with a spoon, he couldn't help but raise his brow at her.
"kya hua tumhe?" questioned nihaal, as bani just sat by an old and broken pool chair that was kept nearby, the basketball court played the role of a storage room as well maybe.
"my mom's a bitch...like a big one..." responded bani, as nihaal scoffed amusingly, dribbling his basketball, which bani noticed.
"it's not funny!" protested bani, as nihaal turned to his basket, and threw his ball to make a shot.
"no, it's not...it's the genuine shock you have everytime you say this, that's funny..." clarified nihaal, as the basket wasn't made, and he immediately went to catch of his ball.
"woh hamesha aisa kuch kyun karti hai, like...something so...so awful...like, apne hi bete ko drugs ka laalach dekar, apni missing bhatiji ke case ki sensitive information nikalna apne channel ke liye, for what the 9pm show ratings! like she doesn't have any ethics whatsoever..." expressed bani her disgust, as nihaal was dribbling his ball on the floor stopped, genuinely shocked.
"uss saale nashedi ko meri behen ki case ki sensitive information mil gayi joh mere paas bhi nahi hai?" questioned nihaal, you could sense the fury build up inside of him, as bani just took a huge bite from a donut and nodded.
Nihaal sat next to her, trying to comprehend what he had just heard.
"he recorded it in his phone, taiyaji aur taiyiji ki baati, jab police ghar aayi thi..." informed bani, as nihaal just facepalmed himself, and bani just gave him a pitiable look.
"i mean, i would offer you one, but tumhara kal match hai..." remembered bani, as nihaal just scorned at her statement.
"faydaa kya hai, iss baar toh meri khudh ki maa ko bhi nahi yaad...iss baar toh shaam ko 'i completely forgot, i am so sorry...' waala drama bhi nahi milega..main toh state ke liye bhi nahi khel raha..." retorted nihaal, throwing his ball to the basket, and he made it this time, but there was no zeal of winning inside of him, just brought more melancholic despair.
"pichli baar jasmine ki state championship thi na?" recounted bani, as nihaal nodded.
"i got a call five minutes after my match, chahte the main jaldi aa jaon jasmine ki celebration party ke liye..." enumerated nihaal, the ball just lying down the basket, he had no will to even move a foot to get it.
"did i mention uski gold medal waali photo ke saath caption tha?" remarked nihaal sarcastically, as bani just cringed so hard.
"i mean....tumhari team bhi championship jeeti thi uss din..." affirmed bani, as nihaal just shook his head.
"well, unke hisaab se toh nahi, unke phone pe meri trophy ke saath toh koi photo nahi hai meri..." attempted nihaal to make light of the matter, but his bitterness was so apparent, it was hard to laugh.
"bura mat maana, par tumhare parents ke haal dekh kar mujhe apne parents ekdum perfect lagne lag jaate hain..." confessed bani, as they both shared a light chuckle.
"i mean, atleast meri maa mujhe gaanja dekar bribe nahi karti..." reflected nihaal, as they both snorted in laughter.
"isko khareedna kitna asaan hai..." interjected bani, as they only howled more in laughter.
"yeh saala nashedi itna gadha bhi nahi hai jitna lagta hai..." noted nihaal, as bani's mouth formed a 'nope', shaking her head in disbelief. But the laughter stopped, huge sighs filled into a vacuum of silence in the air.
nihaal looked over to bani, and took one of the donuts from her box.
"ay!" exclaimed bani, as he glared at her.
"kya? maine itni dieting ki haina inn games ke peeche, jitni tune puri life mein nahi ki, main zyada deserve karta hoon..." argued nihaal, as bani too glared back at him, before they broke out in laughter again.
"arre pata toh hai tujhe, pure ghar mein tu hi hai jisse baat karke aisa lagta hai ki family hai koi meri...tere se cheenke thodi khaunga.." expressed nihaal his appreciation for her, placing the donut back in the box.
"khaa liya kar...par bata toh diya kar..." responded bani, a smile crept up on her face.
"didi toh bulaoge nahi..." grumbled bani, eating her donut.
"didi toh main jasmine ko bulata tha...chomu lagti hai woh uske liye, tu thodi hai..." commented nihaal, as bani just chuckled.
"you are unbelievable..." replied bani, when they noticed a police constable, walking over to them.
"pasi sir, yahan hi woh!" exclaimed paswan, as bani and nihaal exhanged confused glances.

"toh hua yeh ki kul 10 workers pe bricks gir gayi thi ekdum cheap quality cement ke kaaran joh cost cut karne ke liye kiya gaya tha...ab worker's compensation ka reserve inhone maintain kiya nahi aur expenses kam karne ke liye...aur ab woh yeh compensation baaki workers ke wages mein se kaat rahe hain...workers strike pe gaye, toh contractor ne dhamki di ki agle 10 din ki dihaadi kat dega, bas, aurton ko aa gaya gussa, ki unke ghar bache bhooke baithenge, toh 200 aurton ne milkar contractor ko peeta...and he wants to file a legal case...." explained equm, as ishita facepalmed herself.
"seedha-seedha bolon toh investors ek greater noida residential property ka itna badha risk nahi lena chahte hain, aur woh ek chavani nikalne ko taiyaar nahi hai...toh kaafi debt ho gayi hai iss project ki...aap chahe toh mera payment baad mein kar sakti hain..." offered equm, as ishita just glared at him with utter disbelief, took out her purse and handed him over 5,000 rupees.
"ek aur udhar nahi paalna mujhe, woh bhi tumhara.." retorted ishita, as equm still stood their with a smile.
"arre taiyiji, itne mein toh woh joh khabri hai mera noida ka, uski payment hogi, agar mera 50% aur nahi diya, toh mera bhi udhaar likhna hi padega.." snarkily commented equm, when ishita handed him just 2,000.
"thoda sasta waala pee liyo.." rebuked ishita, as equm just shook his head in disbelief, when sub-inspector pasi entered ishita's room with nihaal grabbed on by constable paswan.
"arre yeh kya kar rahe hain aap, aise kaise andar aa gaye!" exclaimed ishita, as equm immediately hid all his money.
"dekhiye madam, mathur sahab ne bulaya hai aapke beto ko interrogation ke liye, aur bhi log hain hamare paas le jaane ko...aap zyada time waste mat kariye aur saath chaliye..." instructed pasi, as ishita looked over to nihaal.
"i'm a minor, they can't interrogate me alone..." informed nihaal, as ishita just rolled her eyes.
"mathur sahab ko meri beti dhoondni hai, mere bete ko chowki lejakar kya hoga! joh puchna hai, yahin pucho, aur tumhare mathur sahab ko itni khujli mach rahi haina toh khudh hi aa jayein...aur waise bhi, main ek lady hoon aur yeh minor ladka hai, humein bina kisi warrant nahi aap bula sakte humein thane..." rebuked ishita, as equm amusingly looked at ishita.
pasi and paswan exchanged glances.
"thik hai, baaki bachon se bhi baat karlenge...aap dono pehle saath bahar aayi hai.." instructed pasi, as nihaal pushed away paswan's grasp on him and walked along, ishita put her arm around him on their way out to the living room.
"yeh saali family bina nashe ke kaise ek dusre ko jhel lete hain meri samajh ke bahar hai.." commented equm, just shaking his head in annoyance, dialing for someone on his phone.
