{Fifth year - after Christmas}
The sun was surprisingly out, we weren't even out of winter yet, so I was surprised by how the sun suddenly emerged from behind the clouds. It warmed the world around me as I made my way down to the black lake. Through endless amounts of warming charms, I sat on one of the large boulders with my book in hand, reading peacefully until someone grabbed a hold of my shoulders and shook me as a surprise. I let out a little squeal before hitting them on the head.
"Ouch—that wasn't cool," Theo complained as he pulled back and sat next to me.
I rolled my eyes at his comment, shaking my head before returning to my book. I could feel Theo's smirk bleeding through the air before he took a hold of my book and pulled it out of my hands almost instantly. I groaned in annoyance.
"I can see he's not in your good books,' said the messenger. 'No, and if he were I would burn my library." He spoke in an over the top Shakespeare impression, "Sounds a lot like you, don't you think Fawn?" He smirked.
I scrunched my nose at him before taking my book back, "Don't be rude, Theo. It's not a good look on you."
"Speak for yourself," He laughed.
I gave him a sharp nudge in the ribs, all I wanted was some peace and quiet. With everyone back from the holidays, everything seemed crowded. I felt so crowded and clustered, like personal space wasn't an option anymore. I supposed the good thing about Theo was that he never crowded. He knew that I wanted my personal space, and he accepted that.
He smiled before lying down on the boulder, resting his hands behind his head as he closed his eyes. I smiled down at him, his beautiful brown hair still flopped over his forehead while the sun complemented his skin rather nicely. It always amazed me how he could lighten the mood in any situation. Even as I was hiding from both my gangs, he still managed to find me.
I tried to turn back to my book, but found it difficult as I could feel his eyes on me. I closed my book and decided to lie back with him, embracing the chill in the air. I could feel his head turn to face me, though I kept my eyes closed—admiring the silence when I knew there wouldn't be any when I got back to the castle.
"Why do you come out here so often?" I heard him ask.
I shifted slightly, turning to look at him, "It's peaceful out here, don't you think?"
He let out a little laugh, "I suppose so, but it doesn't completely answer my question." He cocked a daring brow.
"I technically did-"
"Ahh, but I'm not after technicalities, I'm after true—heartfelt answers," He spoke in a mocking tone that only made me laugh. He joined my laughter until we eventually calmed down, "So? What brings you out here so often, Fawn?"
I smiled and closed my eyes, "As I said, it's peaceful-"
"That's not answering the question-" I grabbed a hold of my book and hit him on the head, "Ouch!"
"I wasn't finished. It's peaceful, and quiet. I've never really had that before. My life before I came to Hogwarts was never fantastic, there was never any peace around me. I—I guess I never really got to experience it until I came to Hogwarts," I told him honestly.
Theo was a good friend, a friend I never wanted to let go of. I knew he'd hold onto me too, never wanting to let go of each other. We found something in one another, something bondable, something that tied us together in a way I couldn't describe. He helped me in so many ways. That was what I loved about him, he never hesitated when it came to giving a helping hand.
