Day 4—Strange Circumstances ( College Au || Forbidden Romance)

Raven's eyes opened. She felt Damian's warm body ease from beside hers as he got out of bed.

"Get dressed and make sure you arrive at the meeting on time," Damian said before going silent and staring at her.

She didn't reply.

She never did.

She simply waited until he left to roll over on her back and stared at the spot he had left empty. And once she was finished letting her mind wander, she would get up, say her prayers, and start her morning routine, which was a collection of mundane tasks. Tasks that she had completed many times before.

Once she was done, she walked out of her bedroom to find Damian waiting on her, like he always did. They would walk down the hallway to the conference room, where he would stand on one side of the room with vampires whom he trusted and she would stand on the opposite side with members of her team and the Coalition. Also inside of the room, there were demons—thanks to Constantine and Zatanna's successful mission. The demon's gazes always followed her when they could.

No one in the room, except for the vampires—who gave her the utmost respect—knew of her new position as Damian's mate. She had told no one. Ninety percent was due to the fact she didn't want anyone to know. The other ten percent was due to Batman threatening her not to tell anyone.

As it stood, the only beings that knew of her relationship with Damian were the vampires, Batman, half of the Coalition's founding members, and Nightwing. None of them, except for the vampires, had taken the news well. The vampires were enjoying the news because no one would voice their displeasure to Damian. They were terrified of him, unlike her.

She simply was annoyed and irritated with him.

Every time that she was around him, she was reminded of the fact that he was—

Think positive, Raven. You can't sulk. You have to think of a plan to make this workout for everybody. She told herself. She needed to be optimistic about the future.

"I can't stand them."

Raven's eyes flew to Changeling, whose eyes darted from the group of vampires to demons. He wasn't helping her optimistic attitude.

"I know; you remind us every day of that." Cyborg said dryly, going over the meeting notes. Notes that she knew by heart.

"I understand why they are here. What I don't understand is why they are here."

"They are here, friend" Starfire answered, "because if we are needed for a mission as a group, we can be informed of the mission at one location as well as be deployed from that same location. It saves time and limits miscommunication. It's only temporary, and it's not like their entire race is here."

Star was right: their entire race wasn't here. Only ten members from each group—the vampires, the demons, and the Coalition—lived and operated out of this base. There were about a hundred and fifty teams stationed across the globe, similar to this one. (Each team either worked on strengthening Earth's defense or sniffing out people who may have been corrupted by Brainiac). Some teams, however, didn't include members of the Coalition but trusted associates and allies to the members of the Coalition. However, each team, but theirs, included a powered wizard or witch to help with keeping the demons in check, and in order to keep the vampires in check, silver bullets and guns had been given to the Coalition members.

The team that she was on didn't need a witch or silver bullets, for now, because they had her and Damian.

"Still, I don't like them here," Changeling said. "I don't like how they continue to look at Rae." His eyes drifted to the demons.
