Day 6—Devotion (Wedding Night/Honeymoon || Alpha/Omega (Omegaverse))

"How are you feeling?" Damian asked, holding his mother's hand in his.

"I will die if you continue to hover over me like a mother hen." Talia said, snatching her hand out of Damian's grip.

A small smile graced Damian's face as he leaned back in the chair that had been placed next to his mother's bed. His mother, the former leader of the vampire society, was recovering well if she could use that amount of strength to remove her hand from his. Yet, although she was doing well, his heart didn't feel at ease, especially seeing the bandages which were wrapped from her neck to her torso.

He hadn't been there when the accident had occurred,—he had been sleeping soundly without a worry in the Batmobile—and his people couldn't determine what went wrong on the field for the accident to happen. However, the aftermath of the accident had been destructive. His mother had been severely injured, along with his mate. They would have been dead, like many others, if Raven hadn't appeared on the scene. If it wasn't for the vision that Raven had, which prompted her to leave their mission at the hideout, his mother would have died that day, like his father.

"Damian." His eyes moved from his mother's neck to her beautiful green eyes. "I'm fine," she said. "You have no reason to worry about me."

"I know, mother, but the thought of losing... I never knew how much I loved you and needed you until then."

"Don't be ridiculous. Even if I had died, you would've been fine."

"Yes, I would've been fine, but I'm magnificent when you are here with me. "

She scoffed. "You should tell your mate those words, not your mother."

"Those words don't apply to her. Her being with me doesn't make me a better person; her being with me makes me complete, filling in the parts that I didn't know were empty."

She stared at him for a moment. "Do not go soft on me, Damian, just because you fell in love."

His eyes bored into hers. "I'm afraid that I already have... I'm sorry, mother. I said that I would make sure your name goes down in history and make your vision a reality, and I will, but not this way."

She turned her gaze away from him to stare at the wall in front of her. "You wish to abort our mission? The one that we spent years preparing for?"

"Yes. It will be a mating gift from a mother to a son."

She scoffed at him.

"I know that it's hard to let go of the idea, but the plan wouldn't have been worth it if you or Raven would have died... Father's death wasn't worth it."

Talia's eyes traveled back to him. "Your father died how he lived, protecting others from what he thought was evil, even when they don't deserve it." She sighed. "Fine, as a mating gift from mother to son, I will abort the plans tonight. And I will ensure that no one knows that there was never an attack from Brainiac or that we were behind everything"

He nodded before saying thank you.

Their plans had originated years ago before he was born, back when the first war had ended. His grandfather and mother had discovered a weakened Brainiac, and instead of ending his life, they had kidnapped the invader and fabricated the story that he had left Earth for space. Everyone had been deceived, including his father.

For years, they spent researching, dissecting, and studying Brainiac's physiology, anatomy, and psychology until he died on the operating table. What they had discovered had been groundbreaking and had advanced the vampire society into the future that had surpassed the other beings of this planet. However, they had been cautious about what they shared with the vampires outside of Nanda Parbat to prevent alerting the others of what they had done. Nevertheless, all vampires that were under their rule had enjoyed the advances that came from their study of the invader, no matter how big or small it was.
