3rd pov

"Poor little one why are you outside in this cold weather?" the stranger said.

'Huh...? who is this person...?' y/n thought while staring at them with slight fear in her eyes.

"Can you understand me?" the stranger asked. As a response y/n just nodded

"Okay, how old are you?" the stranger asked me. she held up her cold hands to show that she is 5 years old.

the stranger looked shockingly at her while in thought 'five..? this poor child... who would do such a thing to her... I need to take care of her until she's old enough to hold a sword to defend herself. I'm surprised that no demons haven't come to this area yet. this is my chance to save her from them but, she might fear me, and I don't think she talks either considering her responds are just gestures.'

"Hey little one, I won't hurt you... I'm just here to ask you something." he said while getting down on one knee. he slowly held y/n's cheek warming up her face. "I'm going to be your new caretaker for now on. would you like that?"

y/n was shocked for a moment and slowly nodded her head as approval.

the stranger picked up her freezing body and held her to his chest so y/n can be warm.

'Warm... so...warm...' y/n thought while falling asleep in the stranger's arms.

~unknown person pov~

I can feel her body relax after I put her into my arms, she was so cold to the touch it makes me want to put her into a bundle of blankets. I took off my white haori and wrap her into a burrito so she can be warm. I held her a little tighter as the breeze came from the north, I looked back to see were leaving the small village. I turned back and look at her resting face keeping my pace slow, so I won't wake her. 'Who would do this to a child and why?'

Y/N'S POV

~time skip in the morning~

I opened my eyes slowly to see a white ceiling and I turned my head to the side and see cute curtains that shines through the window. I slowly sat up and look around the room I'm in. suddenly, someone with a lady in a butterfly clip and a faded purple and white kimono came in the room

'She looked kind, but her eyes looked emotionless...why? ' You asked yourself.

"Hello I'm Shinobu Kocho" Shinobu Kocho introduced herself. "I'm here to make sure you're doing okay." she added after her introduction. "oh my, you're the mute child that master brought along with him, isn't it?" I blink at her as a respond with a straight face. I made a gesture for something to write. She got the picture "Oh! You need something to write so you can respond more properly, yes?" I nod. "Okay I'll be right back" Shinobu Kocho went out the door looking for a notebook. I was looking outside the window to look at the sky. 'The birds look so free... I want to fly too...' I thought Not even noticing that lady named Shinobu Kocho came back with a notebook and pen. I was still looking outside observing where I am.

~Shinobu Kocho POV~

I was running to the other rooms to look for a notebook and pen for the child when I ran into Giyu Tomioka who was just standing by one of the rooms I was going into. 'Ugh... I have no time for him right now I need to find a notebook fast for that child.' I thought while glaring at him. I move to the side and go into the room near Tomioka.

I opened the door and search the supplies. after 6 minutes searching for the notebook and pen, I walk back to the room that the child is in. I opened the door and saw her looking outside the window. I smiled at her as I walk towards her.

'She must not hear me open the door like earlier. she was really alert 10 minutes ago. poor child I wonder what happened to her. when I saw master bring someone that looked like she's been in the cold for way too long. she looked pale top to bottom with nothing on but what looked like rags. now, she looks warm and less pale I'm glad that master found her. She's such a cute little girl. ' I thought

*giggles* "I see you like the outdoors." I said making her flinch. 'It seems like she was so out of it she didn't see me come in. Poor child I wonder why she looked at the birds outside... Does like she like the birds? Or maybe she wants freedom... ' I thought

I tapped her shoulder and she flinched and looked at me. "Hey little girl, don't worry it's just me and I found some supplies for you. Here you go!" I said giving her the notebook and pen. I watched her open the notebook and write something when she was done, she showed me what she wrote. It said 'why am I here? Where is the stranger that took me?'

'Well, at least she's not scared of this place.' I thought

"Well, master saw you outside in the winter cold and he wanted to bring you here to keep a roof over your head and give you warmth. You were very cold and when you both got here, I carried you here so I can take care of you." I reply to her. "And for your second question child I'm afraid that his busy right now to introduce himself to you. Maybe when you're feeling better and his not busy ill bring you to him. Does that sound okay?" I added. As a respond she just nodded her head and wrote something else in the notebook.

After a few minutes she was done and showed it to me. 'I am feeling better thank you for taking care of me and giving me warmth. This place makes me feel safe other than my other home with my dad...' as I read her, I felt sympathy for this child. Whatever she was going through that place she called home wasn't safe for her.

'Did her dad do something to her that made her not safe at that place? I need to tell master about this discovery of this child when he is fully rested.' I thought.

Out of my trance I saw her write something again. 'Another question?' as I guessed

I was right she was asking another question. When she was done, she showed it to me saying 'can I go outside?' I smiled at her "of course you can sweetie but first we need to bathe you and get you clean clothes that fits you. C'mon little one." I said picking her up and walking out of the door with her in my arms.
