Looking at your school mates that have turned into zombies is not fun. Having Finn by my side felt so weird. Our gangs hate each other. And I'm the leader of their biggest rival. My gang is Steel Dragon, their gang is Dusk On The Water. Our school is in neutral territory. Neutral territory is in between our territories. So this is definitely not the norm for us. I couldn't help but notice how Finn was standing behind me. I don't know if he even knows he's doing that. His subconscious knows I'm tougher and I'm able to protect him.
"Valon? How do we get out of this?" Finn asked.
"I'm thinking." I said.
Looking around, I saw an alley not too far from the school. It was narrow and these zombies certainly weren't intelligent enough to go through it. But we'd both fit, you have to turn sideways.
"That alley. Follow me." I said.
I grabbed his left wrist and dashed over to the alley. The zombies trailing behind. These fuckers can sprint. As we reached the alley, we turned sideways fitting in it. The zombies stayed at the opening, trying to reach for us. I was positioned in front of Finn. He behind me. He was breathing quiet hard whereas I was fine. He won't admit it, but I know he's scared. I took out my gun and aimed it at the zombies.
"You have enough bullets for that?" Finn asked.
"Yes. I'm a gang leader and my rival gang is in the same school. I come prepared. I've got spare clips on me." I said.
I started firing. Hitting bullseyes every time, killing them. Two clips later, they were done. Must be the extra zombies gave up."We're in the clear. Let's go while we have the chance, Finn." I said.
Grabbing his wrist, I bolted quietly towards my motorcycle. We both got on it, even though I could sense Finn was hesitant about it. I revved it up and sped out of the school's parking lot.
"Where are we going?" I heard Finn yell.
"There's a housing development not far from here. We should be safe there." I yelled back. And I was right. The street was trashed. I pulled into the first house on the street and it was a two story. Finn and I got off the bike, walked up and I pushed the door open slowly. If a zombie is in here, surely it heard the door. We walked in and Finn shut the door behind us. No one came charging at us so I assumed we're safe.
"No one's here." Finn said.
"That's a good thing. Let's get something to eat, we didn't make it to lunch." I said.
Finna nodded in agreement. I found the kitchen and started going through the cupboards.
"Angel hair spaghetti okay?" I asked.
Finn nodded. He's been quiet. Not fighting me like I thought he would."Finn? Are you alright?" I asked, getting the water for the pasta started.
Finn sighed heavily, but his breath shaky. He shook his head.
"No. Truth is, I'm terrified." Finn whispered.
He was almost so quiet I barely heard him. I walked up behind him and hugged him from behind.
"You're safe with me." I said.
"Am I?" Finn questioned.
"Yes. I'll keep you safe." I promised.
"Okay." Finn agreed.I put my head in his neck.
"Don't be scared. I won't let any harm come to you." I vowed.
"I trust you." Finn said.
I never expected us to be in this position, literally. To be this close to each other. Me hugging his waist from behind with my head in his neck and him being so okay with it. This felt so weird but so right. Does that make sense? I sure hope so. I heard the water bubbling, indicating it's boiling and ready for the pasta. I let Finn go and went to the kitchen. I had Prego marinara sauce going and got ready to drain the pasta. Searching again through the cupboards, I found a strainer. I drained the pasta and mixed the sauce with it. I found Parmesan cheese in the fridge, got out two bowls and prepared our lunch. I walked them over to the living room where Finn was relaxing on the couch, deep in thought. I tapped his shoulder and he damn near jumped out of his skin.
"It's just me, Finn." I softly said.
He nodded and took the bowl I handed him. I sat next to him and we began eating, silence between us."Valon?" Finn asked.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Are we gonna die?" Finn asked.
I scooted over next to him and touched my right and his left leg together.
"No. I won't let us." I said.
Finn nodded. He wanted to believe me, but his fear was getting in the way. I wanted to comfort him, strip him of that fear. But it was going to take time. And a lot of proving on my part. But it can be done. And be done it shall...
