A short story

Being turned into a zombie sucks, especially when your a vegetarian. Even more so when it turns out the guy who savaged you is part of some damned weird ungerground cult that you are now a part of and their leader has taken an interest in you- it makes being a fresher at uni so much harder.

Five Filipino doctors, driven by a thirst for scientific advancement, formed their own company, The Umbrella Corporation. Their ambition? To conduct groundbreaking experiments on the unsuspecting residents of Quezon City, targeting a diverse range of subjects: babies, children, teenagers, parents, the elderly, and more. Years of tireless research culminated in a series of trials. The first patient, initially showing signs of remarkable progress, took a horrifying turn. They transformed into a zombie, the project's first resounding failure. Despite this setback, the doctors pressed on, driven by an unwavering conviction in their work. From Patient two to Patient six, they continued their experiments, each test pushing the boundaries of human resilience and, ultimately, sanity. Chaos erupted as Patient six managed to escape, leaving a trail of terror in their wake. In the midst of this unfolding nightmare, Patient seven, a young woman who had been in a prolonged coma, emerged. Her return was not only a testament to the human will to survive but also a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked ambition. As she confronted her own father, she made a chilling decision - to offer herself for testing by the other doctors, a choice born from an unfathomable desire for answers, regardless of the consequences. Eva Valencia was working in a secret lab ran by the government to find new vaccines for a disease hidden by the government. One night, when Eva was working alone, something went wrong. Something horrible that Eva didn't even realize. As Eva was testing the vaccine on a few people, those people began to change, change in a scary way. The vaccine had mutated their brains, and slowly they turned into something terrifying. Little did Eva know, she doomed the entire human race with her mess up. Years pass and almost all humans are taken over by this mutation. Only a select few humans remained unmutated. Only the strongest of the strongest survived, including Eva. Eva stayed at that lab, trying to find some way to fix what she'd caused. The perimeter of the lab was surrounded by an electrified fence, permitting anything from coming in or going out. One day, a man approaches the fence, trying to see if there are any survivors or supplies inside. As Eva and the man meet, she tells him about the cure she's working on and how there is a lab upstate that has the final ingredient. As Eva and the man try to find a way to get Eva out of the fenced in lab, they connect. They connect in a way that scares both of them. Eva finds that they aren't so different after all, both with dark pasts that no one knows about. Will they save humanity? Will they fall in love?
