I slowly open my eyes and focus on the mini chandelier that hangs above our dresser.
Conor wanted to have it centered above our queen bed, but respected my fear of being crushed in my sleep by it falling and landing on top of us.
I get tired of staring at the ceiling so I roll over onto my side so I'm facing Conor.
I take in his defined jawline and remember the events from last night.
Clothes are strewn across the room and the two candles have gone out, though their rose scent still lingers faintly in the air.
I detangle myself from his arms, and luckily; he sleeps on.
I don't even bother to throw any clothes on because we have seen each other nude numerous times before last night.
I gather all of the articles of clothing into my arms and toss them into the clothes hamper.
I grab a set of "lazy" clothes because it's a Saturday and I make my way from the bedside table, to the bathroom in our bedroom.
I don't bother to shut the door either because we have moved FAR beyond that old "incident".
I turn on the shower, switching the knobs to a warm stream of water, and I step in.
Our bathroom is a lot like my old bathroom at the C & M Hospital.
It's got the fogged-up glass shower but instead of a regular fancy bathtub placed into the floor and connected to the wall, we've got a bubble jet stream jacuzzi (which we use often).
I'm in the process of washing the conditioner from the bottom tips of my hair when I hear someone tap lightly on the doorframe.
"Yes?" I call out.
"Hon, it's me," Conor says, "I'm going to go check on James".
"Aw, that's a shame," I say, "I wish you would join me in here".
"I know, I do too, but I should make sure our son wasn't murdered or kidnapped, or all of the above".
"Good call," I call out.
Then I laugh and say; "Conor?".
"Yeah?" he's still there.
"Thank you for last night".
"No, thank you, Nina, but seriously, I want to make sure we still have a to take care of".
"Yeah, I'll just have to check in with you when I'm done".
"Will do," he says and I hear his footsteps retreat into the bedroom as he leaves with a light tap on the frame again.
I finish my shower and turn off the water.
I grab a light pink towel (a Valentine's Day gift from Conor this year), and I dry my body, my hair and then I get dressed.
I don't bother to apply makeup because I don't have to work today, and I don't have to look pretty for Conor to love me.
I am wearing a pair of black silk pants that are tight around the ankles and poof out around the thighs and calves: Princess Jasmine style.
I put on a light blue sports bra and a pair of light blue underwear.
My shirt is long-sleeved and black, actually the same shade as the pants.
After I brush my hair, I pull it back into a sleek ponytail, and I secure it with a thick black ponytail holder.
I slip on a pair of soft gray socks.
Now I'm "presentable".
I step through the open doorway and walk down the hallway, making my way to James' room.
