As I make my way to this cafe on the corner of my street to meet Anna for coffee, I can't help but feel worried. I mean she was trusting me to do that interview and I barely got any information out of Romanoff. I bet you once I get there she's gonna give me a telling off and unfriend me. Okay maybe that's a little dramatic.
"Y/n!" She waves me over as I walk into the shop. Well at least she seems cheerful.
"Omg I love you!" She says as she stands up and gives me a big hug. "What for?" I giggle trying to figure out what I did.
"'Ms. Romanoff just emailed me all the answers to my interview questions, your the best." She says very excitedly.
Relief washes over me knowing that I didn't completely bomb my interview. I'm just curious about why Romanoff would put in that extra time just to benefit me, I mean I practically wasted a half hour of her time during that meeting.

As I head into my apartment I get a notification on my laptop. Opening the content I see that it's an email from Romanoff Institute. That's weird.Reading over the email it seems to be a job request showing an opening as Romanoffs personal assistant. I don't know why I got an email though, considering I didn't even apply for a job. I mean how did they even get my contact information.
As I start to putter around my apartment I start to think about the job, I mean I could really use a job as of right now, so maybe it would be a good thing if I accepted the offer. I'll sleep on it and decide in the morning.
—————
As my alarm blares through the room, I tiredly reach over turning it off before getting up and ready for the day.As I putter around my place doing anything to past the time, I come across my laptop reminding me about that job offer. Reluctantly I email back accepting the offer. I mean why not give it a try.

It is now a week later and I'm on my way to Romanoff Institute to start my first day as her assistant. I'm still not exactly sure why she wants me as her assistant considering I have no experience with this type of work, but still I'm going to give it my best shot. This time around I am dressed much more appropriately, or at least I hope. I'm wearing a blouse, tucked into a black penciled skirt, with matching black heels and my hair tied up in a ponytail.
Making my way to the front desk where the same secretary as last time sits. Im about to grab her attention however, before I can make it to her I'm stopped by the young woman I recognize from the last time I was here, I think her name was Wanda?
"Y/n right?" She questions as she approaches me.
"You'd be correct." I smile back.
"I'll lead you up to Ms. Romanoffs office, since she's expecting you any minute." She kindly says.
I follow her to the elevator and wait for the doors to shut. As we sit in silence for a few minutes Wanda speaks up. "So I hear your the new assistant, are you nervous." She asks
"Yeah actually, I've never really done something like this and on top of all that I'm still trying to figure out what made Romanoff want me as her assistant. I mean I didn't even apply for the job." I start rambling to Wanda as my nerves get the better of me, until she cuts me off.
"What do you mean you didn't apply for the job." She hesitantly asks "I was told by Romanoff that you applied for the job after visiting, I mean there were tons of applications she had to go through, you should be lucky she picked you."She states
"Right, of course I applied for the job. I mean why else would I be here." I lie straight to her face. Why would Romanoff lie to her about offering me a job, I mean for her to pick me out of all other applicants even though I wasn't even interested at first, it just doesn't make sense.
"We'll it was lovely chatting with you Y/n, if you just walk straight, her office is the first one on the right." She directs me before entering the elevator and leaving me in the very empty hallway.
I make my way down the hall until I get to her door, the same intimidatingly large doors as last time. Am I supposed to knock...?
Before I even got the chance to figure out how to enter, the door swings open revealing a very serious Ms. Romanoff.
"Ms. Steele good to see you again, I was just about to come find you." She says as she makes her way back into her office with me following close behind.
"I was glad to hear you took the job offer." She tells me.
"Yeah about that, I'm still not really sure why you offered me the job when I wasn't even interested at first. I mean there were probably way more suitable people for this job, so why pick me." I question
She takes a seat at her desk as I sit in the chair across from her, crossing my legs "Yes well after our meeting last week, my assistant resigned. I remember you mentioning you were unemployed at the moment and considering I already knew you, I thought I would offer the job to you first." She states calmly
"Yes well I'm very grateful for that." I tell her.
"As for this week you will be my shadow, following me around wherever I go. If I'm working then so are you, understood." She looks up at me, in which I nod my head in agreement. "Good girl." She says lowering her voice.
Her comment caught me off guard as I shift in my seat. I don't think she realized what she had said either since she seemed a bit surprised herself, clearing her throat before continuing. "First off I need you to go grab me an iced vanilla latte from downstairs. Feel free to grab yourself something to, then meet me up here in 15 as we have a meeting to attend."
—————
And so that's what I did, after grabbing her and myself a coffee I make my way back up the elevator. As the doors open to the correct floor I see Romanoff standing in front of me. She takes her coffee from my hand before entering the elevator with me.
The ride down the elevator was quiet, and even though it was just me and her in there it felt like someone was burning holes through the side of my head. As curiosity got the better of me I quickly glance at Romanoff , sure enough I watch as she quickly looks away subtly taking a sip of her coffee. Weird
I follow beside her as we make our way into a new room, this one's filled with quite a few people all sat along a very long table. Romanoff takes a seat near the end and directs me to sit beside her, which I do.
Looking around the room and finally taking in my surroundings, I notice that everyone seems to be very put together and professional. I'm guessing this is a meeting with all the big bosses. I start to feel anxious again biting my lip, once I realize how high up in power my new boss actually is.
Romanoff subtly leans closer to me "What did I tell you about biting your lip." She asks with a more serious tone in her voice. "You said it was a bad habit." I reply back. "Exactly, so cut it out." She replies a bit sharper than usual. " yes ma'am." I say with a bit of humour in my voice.
—————
Once the meetings done, I again follow Ms Romanoff to wherever she's off to next.We enter the elevator assuming we're going back to her office. However instead she clicks the level above her office, the roof.
I stay quiet even though I'm curious as to what her motive is. The doors open revealing a private jet with her name in bold letters on the side of it. "You have your own jet?!" I say a bit too enthusiastically. "How else am I supposed to get where I need to." She questions.
After the shock wears off I start to realize that we're headed for the jet. "Wait where exactly are we going?" I question with a slight hesitancy in my tone. "Business trip" is all she says before boarding the plane.
"A business trip, I didn't even have time to pack any luggage" I mumble to myself. As I'm deep in my thoughts concentrated on my lack of preparation for this Romanoff speaks up
"Y/n I don't have all day to wait for you, hurry up." And so I reluctantly board the plane with no idea of the destination.
