Still in the midst of recovering from my broken leg, I sit on the mouth of the fountain, touching the air walker boot securely wrapped around my recovering leg. It had been around five weeks since I'd broken my leg and I was recovering quickly. Unfortunately, I'd have to start school soon- which would definitely upset Alberto who'd absolutely loved me being around all the time.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" Chirped a familiar voice. Casting my eyes away from my leg I immediately light up to see Alberto hurrying over to me with an icecream cone in each hand. Shifting against the cold stone of the fountain. "Careful, Bert! You'll slip over!" Since he never wore shoes anywhere, he always had to be cautious. Well, correction, I always had to be cautious.

Skidding to sit beside me, he forced a (F/F) icecream cone in my hand. "Me? Fall over? Pfft, no." He waved his hand dismissively at me, licking his icecream while gently kicking his legs. "How's your boot? It looks cool." Leaning foward, he tapped the plastic of the medical boot. "Meh, could be better! Hopefully I'll be able to get it off in a few weeks. Buuut, there is one downside." I awkwardly lick my icecream, earning a confused expression from Alberto.

"Uh, what is it?" He questioned, stopping his fidgeting so he could listen to what I had to say.

"One word. School."

The fourteen year old gasps loudly, dropping his icecream so he could throw his arms around my shoulders, smooshing his tanned skin against the side of my (S/C) face. "No! I won't let school take you away from me too!"

In response I gently placed my hand against his forearm. "Aw, don't worry, Bert! I'll write to you everyday, like Luca does! You can even use the telephone. But let's not worry about that now, weren't you supposed to help Massimo today?"

At the mention of Massimo, Alberto's eyes widen. "Oh my god you're right!" He must've moved too quickly because he toppled backwards into the fountain after releasing me. "Alberto!-" scrambling to catch him, the now sea monster sat up in the water. "I'm okay! Uh- I'll catch up with you later!" Standing on his flipper like feet, he ruffles up my hair and nuzzled his scaled face against my now messed hair before dashing towards the docks where he was supposed to meet Massimo.

Groaning, I stand to my feet and spot sight of Mamma with some paper bags bundled in her arms. "Mamma!" I call, hobbling over to her as fast as I can. "Oh, (Y/N)! I just saw Alberto run off, is he working with Massimo?" She questions, smiling in adoration as I scoff down my icecream. "Mhm! He's always trying to please him. Unfortunately, Massimo is a man of few words. I just wish I could help out, but this damn leg!"

"Ah ah ah, (Y/N)! You already do enough as it is. Even with your broken leg, you do not sit still." (M/N) scolded, furrowing her brow softly. "Anyway, hon, I'll catch up with you later, I don't want to drop my groceries. Invite 'Berto for dinner tonight, we're having spaghetti." Turning on her heel, she trudged up the cobblestone path towards our house.

The smell of smoke filled the murky night air, filling the indigo coloured sky. One of the docks boats was on fire. "Oh my god, Massimo! What happened!?" I shout over the sound of crackling flames, running to the end of the stone beach where Massimo was staring in terror as his boat succumbed to the intense heat and pressure of the flames.

Massimo didn't even reply, too focused on his boat. Groaning in anger, I place a hand on the man's shoulder, catching his attention. "Alberto- where did he go?" He questions, expression serious and full of worry. "I-I don't know. What ha-" I couldn't even finish my response before he grabbed my wrist, leading me from the beach and to the cobble hill. Alberto carrying a suitcase.

"What are you doing?" Massimo demands, letting go of me as I hurry towards Alberto. "Alberto! Are you okay?" I reach out to touch him, but he recoils, sadness evident in his green eyes. "I quit. I cant do it. I'm not good at this. I'm not good at being your..employee."

"No." Massimo reached out towards Alberto, who hissed and turned around to continue his voyage up the hill.

"Why do even care? You don't even like me! You don't even talk to me. Not like (Y/N) does." He seemed to slow at the mention of my name, but didn't want to risk injuring his love through his mistakes.

Massimo followed up behind the boy, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Alberto-"

"Just let me go, Dad!"

I was just as stunned as Massimo. But it was so sweet that Alberto saw Massimo was a father figure. Dropping his suitcase, Berto went to pick it up but Massimo placed a heavy hand on the material to stop him. I crouched beside the one armed man, not saying anything.

"I once made my father so angry, he punched a hole in a brick wall." Spoke Massimo, raising a fist subtly and clenching it to demonstrate his point.

Alberto looked up at the man, green eyes sparkling in the evening light. "..really? And then what happened?"

"We fixed it." Then, Alberto hugged the man tightly, securing his arms around his neck as Massimo placed a hand on his back. Extending a hand, I ruffle Alb's curly locks, catching his attention as he pulls away from Massimo. "Are you oka-" the wind is knocked out of me as my boyfriend hugs me tightly, muttering all sorts of apologies. "Hey, it's okay. Don't worry." I speak softly, wrapping my arms around him in return and kissing his cheek tenderly. "Whatever happens, you'll always be our funny, talented, Alberto. Okay?"
