olivia's pov:

"so, what's changed about the joshua bassett?" i asked, doing jazz hands just cus i know it annoys him.

"nothing. absolutely nothing"

i fake frowned, doing puppy eyes for extra effect "oh come on. i've seen you got a new car. plus you're with sabrina now. you've gotta be incredibly happy"

"i guess" he shrugged, "but not as happy as i was when we were together."

this man...

"but it's been three years" i pointed out, confused.

"so? time isn't gonna completely change my feelings," he said, laughing awkwardly.

"fair point. are you still writing songs?" i pulled my jacket closer to me. why is this place so cold?!

"oh yeh! i still love writing more than anything. i've also been getting back into acting"

"i always told you you're great at acting! you're on high school musical: the series right?" ok this is genuinely amazing for him. i couldn't help but clap my hands together excitedly.

"yeh haha. it's actually called high school musical: the musical: the series, but we're kinda starting to move away from high school musical. we're doing camp rock this year"

"huh that's um weird" i furrowed my brow

he scoffed "tell me about me about it. fans are as confused as i am"

"well i'm sure it'll still be great. plus it combines your two favourite things; acting and singing" i used my hands as almost scales and emphasize what i meant

"hahaha very true, very true," he said, smiling at the ground.

"whats changed about the olivia rodrigo" he said smiling like those interviewers do.

"well, i do music professionally now, which is just amazing. and, if i'm honest, almost everyday is the same."

"how is each day the same? what do you do?"

"um, it's a pretty particular schedule lemme just check my notes so i get it right."

i pulled out my front pocket and scrolled endlessly trying to find my notes app. "oh here it is! ok so i wake up at seven and go to the gym until 8, then at 9 i have a meeting with my team, then at 10 i go to the studio until 2, then from 2-4 i do interviews, 4-5 i do rehearsals, then i get a break til 7, and then at 7 i get ready for that night's performance, and at 8 i perform."

"jesus. when was your last day off?"

"i don't remember. it is pretty intense but i love it. like it's always been my dream to write and make music for my job so i dont have much to complain about"

"how much did you and adam tend to spend together?"

"not much at all. i'm always working. maybe thats when of the reasons he cheated. cus like i was always busy," i shrugged.

"i highly doubt that"

"whoever i date next i think should be in the music industry in that they know what it's like to have a crazy schedule," i sighed, leaning my head back against the wall.

"ooo im gonna play matchmaker," josh said, sitting up straighter with a fake smile.

"oh god," i groaned, rubbing my hands over my face.

"oh yes. soooo what's your type?" he said all giddily, acting like a girl at a sleepover.

i started counting off the characteristics with my fingers "someone who is tall, at least a year older than me, brown hair, brown eyes, creative, hardworking, thoughtful, and puts others before themselves"

"picky, picky, picky."

"oh shush! like you're any better! sabrina is a carbon copy of me, she just looks different."

"nope! we're talking about you here!" he said, grinning cheekily.

"ugh, fine," i rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"so how much of an age difference would be ideal?"

"hmm...probably like two years."

"so our age difference?"

"mhm. exactly"

. . .

josh's pov:

i have no idea why im having this conversation right now. i guess it does kinda make myself feel better about us in that im still her ideal type.

she looks so much more relaxed compared to when we first got in this wretched metal box. sitting against the wall with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap, she looks almost at peace? i moved to sit next to her, my arm touching her arm and nudged her with my shoulder.

"you feeling ok?"

"yeah," she sighed, "i'm trying to just relax into this. it doesn't seem like we're leaving this place anytime soon."

"i'm just bored.

"I know right? we need something to pass the time"

"what were you thinking we should do?"

she look to her right, up at me.

"i..."

"what?"

i watched as she her eyes quickly looked at my lips then back at my eyes a couple times as if i wouldn't notice.

"i don't know what i want," she whispered, starting to slowly lean in to me.

"i think you do," i whispered back, meeting her in til me were less than two centimeters apart.

"i want to be with you. i love you," liv said, smiling sheepishly.

that's all i've ever wanted to hear

"i love you too. i want to be with you too."

"then kiss me"

fireworks.
