*Tom’s POV*

Max, Jay, Siva, Nareesha, Kelsey, and I were still sitting in the living room. Kelsey and I were on one side of the couch and she was cuddled up into my chest! God, I love her. Siva and Nareesha were snuggled up on the opposite side of the couch and Max and Jay sat by their lonesome in the love seats; no one had really moved since we sat down. We were watching ‘The Avengers’, great movie by the way, I picked it out! Anyways, it had ended a half hour ago. We were flipping through the channels, disagreeing on everything; so many people and opinions to take into account. Jay had suggested we watch ‘Avatar’, but as you probably guessed, we shot that idea down before he could even finish the word. Siva wanted to watch ‘Star Wars’, but again, we said no. ‘P.S.I Love You’ was on TV and Kelsey and Nareesha practically begged for that but there’s no way the boys and I were going to sit though that cry fest today. I secretly loved it, but shhh! Wait what? I smirked, laughing internally at the little banter I had going on about chick flicks.

Max was still flipping through the channels, but nothing seemed interesting. Who knew that at 3:30 in the morning there was nothing good on TV? Speaking of time, Nathan’s been gone for 3 hours! Just as that thought crossed my mind, Jay spoke up, “Anyone else notice Nathan’s been gone for,” Jay paused and looked at his watch, “3 hours?”

“Yeah.” Everyone murmured at the same time just seeming to notice this too.

“Here, I’ll call him.” I said unraveling my arms from around Kelsey. I stuffed my hands into my pockets and dug around for my phone. I pulled it out and typed in Nath’s number. It rang and rang until his voicemail started. That’s odd. “There’s no answer.”

“Try again?” Max suggested.

So that’s what I did. I tried once more but still no answer. “Nope, still voicemail.”

“Maybe he just didn’t hear it?” Siva stated trying to calm the situation a bit, but it came out more of a question than anything.

“It’s okay; he’ll probably be back soon.” Nareesha said with a smile. She and Siva were always the calm ones in situations so it didn’t surprise me that she said that.

“Yeah.” I sighed but I didn’t believe it. I had this gut feeling that something was wrong. Nathan usually answers his phone. Plus, there is no reason he shouldn’t. He has his phone and he should feel it vibrate or hear the ringtone from his pocket. I heard something coming from outside. It sounded like a scream; it was a man, but it was faint. Maybe I was hearing things? “Did you guys hear that?” I asked.

“What?” Kelsey replied.

“That sound coming from outside, it sounded like someone screaming.”

“Yeah I heard that too, but I thought I was just hearing things.” Jay spoke and it seemed like everyone else agreed.

We weren’t too sure where the yell came from so we split up and headed in different directions. Jay and I went to the front door, Max to the windows on the left side of the house, Siva to the windows on the right side of the house, and Kelsey and Nareesha to the back door. I approached the door with Jay hot on my trail. I opened the door and saw something on the ground across the street in front of the alleyway not too far down the road. It was slightly lit up due to the lamppost almost directly above the object. I told Jay to flick on the porch light so we could get a better look. I stepped further out the door and down the steps. I looked behind me and saw that Jay, Kelsey, Nareesha, Siva, and Max had gathered onto the porch waiting for me to find out what’s over there. “Thanks for letting me go alone; appreciate it.” I thought sarcastically. As I advanced towards the alley, I realized that the object lying there wasn’t in fact an object at all; it was someone.
