*Nathan POV*
It's been two weeks since the incident in front of the alleyway and believe me when I say they have been anything but relaxing. The first week, the hospital kept me in bed hooked up to a bunch of machines and an IV. Multiple tests were taken every day and it was beyond annoying. There was a TV in my room, but I didn't get any good channels. Basically, all I ended up watching were re-runs of 'Coronation Street'. I like that show and all, but there's only so much drama you can handle a day. Anyways, the second week in the hospital, the doctors took me off all of the machines except the grey heart monitor that clips around your finger. I was able to go for walks around the hospital and sit out in the garden because being in a hospital bed all day was seriously starting to make me go mad. The doctors still ran tests on me every day but not as much as the first week, which I appreciated. Today is the day, finally, that I get released from the hospital.
The lads brought by a couple of sets of clothes for me for when I wanted to take walks and stuff last week which I happily accepted. I mean, who wants to walk around a hospital with people always roaming the halls in a robe that doesn't cover your butt? Not me. I pulled the monitor off of my finger and threw the sheets off of me while hopping out of bed. Working my way over and shutting the door, I examined my clothes in a pile on a chair up against the wall. I took out a pair of black sweat pants, my 'Game Over' t-shirt, and a grey jumper.
After the clothes were securely covering my body, I slipped my red supras on and put my black beanie on my head tucking all of my hair in. Now, all that's left is waiting for the lads to come and get me. They've been really supportive the last two weeks; they came and visited me every day. I told them they didn't have to but knowing how stubborn we all are, they wouldn't have listened to me anyways. Sometimes, the lads snuck in some McDonald's food for me. I was very grateful! Hospital food is nasty!
A few days ago, the lads brought in McDonald's and they crowded around my bed while we stuffed our faces and chatted. But then Dr. Green walked in and everyone froze.
---Flashback---
Our eyes were wide and we looked like deer caught in headlights. No one moved for about thirty seconds until Dr. Green broke the silence by randomly shouting, "What Jerry? You need me for twenty minutes? But I have to check on Mr. Sykes right now. Ok, I'll help you out but in twenty minutes I'll be back here to do a routine check on Mr. Sykes." Then she backed out of the room giving us a look that said to hurry up.
Jay broke the silence, "She is the best doctor ever!" I would have agreed, except I was too busy cramming the burger in my mouth. After we finished eating, we gathered the garbage up and Tom took the lift down two levels to dispose of the trash; just to be safe. When Tom returned, he plopped down in his seat throwing his feet up on my bed in exasperation. Just then, Dr. Green and a male doctor I haven't seen before walked in. He had jet black hair that greyed at the sides, a pale complexion, and hazel eyes. The doctor looked to be about six feet tall.
Dr. Green's eyes quickly scanned the room looking for any evidence of our rule breaking shenanigans. Her eyes widened. I followed her gaze and saw that signature yellow crumpled piece of paper with the McDonald's logo printed on it under an extra chair. Oh shit. Dr. Green looked down to the clip board in her hands and dropped it to the opposite side of the male doctor.
"I'm sorry. You know me, I'm just so clumsy." Her words left her mouth shaky before letting out a nervous laugh. He gave her a funny look but it soon faded as he leaned down to pick up the board. Dr. Green leaned down too, but as her right arm reached for the clipboard, her left reached and grabbed the McDonald's wrapper. She crumpled the paper tight in her palms but covered up the noise with a cough. The male doctor gripped the clipboard in his hands as Dr. Green pushed the wrapper deep into her white coat pocket.
