Pia

Pia doubted an unhealthy childhood to be the reason behind Rishi's behavior, and today her suspicion turned out to be true. The way Rishi talked, it felt as if he blamed himself for not being there when his mother needed him the most; Pia thought, 'It wasn't his fault, he was a child, too young to understand. He mentioned about his brother Nitish bhaiya; Again! Not everyone is the same, why is society like this? Why are we always comparing??' Pia had a lot to say, but instead chose to stay quiet, she wanted to first get hold of whatever she heard, filter her thoughts and then advance to say something to Rishi. The few words she said; she hoped, brought some sort of peace to Rishi's chaotic mind.

That day when Pia came back home, she decided to send Rishi a msg, and put up her opinion and try to make him understand that he wasn't at all accountable. She thought for a while, typed a paragraph, backspace it, thought again, typed again, and repeated the same thing thrice. Finally she was ready with a heartfelt msg she could send him to make him feel better.

Rishi

Rishi could not believe what had just happened, a few minutes back he was on his bed, regretting the oversharing he did with Pia at school. He thought, he made a fool out of himself; 'Pia did not even respond properly' he thought, agitated. The fact that he admired her and her smile later, made him sulk at himself. With this came all the memories of his childhood back, he was then lost in a stream of thoughts which were breaking him, and the more he thought about it, the more he hated himself, but now that he had read the msg Pia had sent him, all of it had vanished.

He kept on re reading it, twice, thrice and a few more times, everytime he read those words, he felt better, he could picturize Pia, smiling and saying all she had typed. And everytime he came across the word 'cute' Pia had used for him, he would smile and blush. The calmness that Pia's message brought to his disarranged mind was beyond words. He wondered how those simple words, something he had heard everyone say, were now his favorite ones to read. He could not believe how much of a difference, the right words, coming from the right person could make. Rishi felt good and was smiling cheek to cheek the whole evening.

The next day when Rishi entered the class he was happy to see Pia, who was jumping and singing with her sweet voice the most magical "Heyyyy!!!" Rishi had ever heard of it. Rishi replied with a simple "Hi", listening to it, Pia's smile faded and that caught Rishi's attention. "What happened??" He asked worriedly. "Why is your 'Hi' always soooooooo dry? '' She said, making a face. "You should be joyful whenever you meet someone, and should greet them with the all your heart!" She said with a twinkle in her eyes. 'Ah! Those eyes!' Thought Rishi. "Umm, okay, I'll try", Rishi then took a deep breath and with a little enthusiasm said "Hiii!" "Naah, that wasn't good enough" Pia complained. "Ohkay wait one more try." "Hiiiii!!" Rishi tried to be more energetic than earlier."Still not upto the mark" Pia said folding her arms. "Oh come on! It was good!" "No, it was not" "It was!!" Rishi knew she was just acting up... "Nakhre!" He whispered, rolling his eyes. "Well, it's sad.. you just can't match my level, you know, I am the best!" She said, flapping her hair. Rishi then brought both his hands together and bowed in front of her. "Okay madam!" He said. Pia giggled like a child and asked him to sit.
