mission creek general hospital, 1998

Screams echoed throughout the delivery room, Rebecca Stanton lay on a hospital bed, sweat clinging to her forehead, her eyes screwed shut as her face contorted in pain. It felt like she had been pushing for days, if she didn't know any better she'd say she was on the verge of death. Even though the pain, she cursed out her ex-husband, the coward that left her the moment he found out about the baby.

"Just one more push, honey, I know you can do it," Her best friend, Tasha Dooley, calmly coached her.

"I can't," Rebecca sobbed, turning to face her friend. "I can't, Tash."

"Yes, you can," She said confidently, stroking her friend's hair. "Just one more push and you're going to have a beauty baby girl."

Noise erupted within the room once again but this time it wasn't Rebecca in pain, it was the cries of her new born child. Rebecca let her head fall against the bed, her body finally able to relax after hours of labour.

"There she is," Tasha cooed, sending a sympathetic look towards her friend. She couldn't contain her pride, she and Rebecca had known each other for years, since college, and Rebecca had always talked about having a child, it was the final piece of the puzzle. "There's your baby girl."

"Alright," The doctor spoke calmly. "We're going to get your girl cleaned up and move you into a recovery room so you can properly relax, we'll bring her in to you as soon as we can."

"Wait," Rebecca gasped. "I want to see her first."

The doctor brought the baby, wrapped up in a small blanket towards Rebecca, letting her catch a glimpse.

"Wow," Tasha held a hand to her chest. "She's beautiful."

Rebecca smiled at the woman holding her child, "Thank you, Doctor..."

"Montgomery," The woman smiled before walking away.

"I've never loved anything or anyone more than I love this little girl," Rebecca admitted, watching Tasha grin at her words.

"Yep," She nodded in agreement. "That's how it goes, get used to it because your whole life is going to be dedicated to protecting this little angel."

"Oh," Rebecca laughed. "She's not going to be an angel in the slightest, are you pumpkin? You and Leo are going to run us ragged, aren't you?"

Tasha's face paled slightly. "Oh god."

"They're going to be inseparable, you know that, right?"

"I should hope so," Tasha smiled down at her friend, her hand reaching over to rub her them across the baby's cheek. "You come up with a name yet?"

"I'm going back and forth between a few."

"Hit me, I'll help you decide."

"Okay," Rebecca nodded. "Courtney, after-"

"Courtney Cox, understandable," Tasha grinned, rolling her eyes. "Next one?"
