When Wilhelm arrived at the palace, he immediately went to his room.

It was double the size, as his dorm at Hillerska. But it was his safe space after all. His room was his room, and no one else's.

He started unpacking all his stuff, "mystery of love" playing in his headphones.

He was almost done unpacking when he heard a knock on the door, and his mother walked in.

"Food is ready" His mom didn't look at him.

"I'll be out in a minute" He didn't want to go. He hated dinner. It was the time he actually had to speak to his parents, and he never really felt like talking in their company.

                                            -
"Broccoli?" Wilhelms mother asked while handing him the broccoli. Wilhelm took the bowl and placed some broccoli on his plate.

"Is it fun at Hillerska" his father asked, smiling. Obviously trying to loose the tension.

"Mhm" Wilhelm just said. He didn't feel like getting into heavy details right now. And he obviously couldn't tell them about Simon. They would rib off his head.

"You haven't seen Simon right?" His mother asked, giving Wilhelm a strange look he'd never seen before. A scared, but also mad look. He couldn't really read her, like he used to. Something in her was changed. And it made him mad. It was none of her business.

He couldn't stand sitting there, taking everything. Making it seem like everything is fine. He had to get out of there.

"Excuse me" he said, and left the table. His mother quickly stood up.

"Wilhelm, don't you dare leave this table" she was shouting.

Wilhelm didn't like it. He hated being shouted at. So he stopped, and turned around. Looking his mother directly in the eyes.

"Have you been with Simon, Wilhelm?" She spoke quieter now, but the anger and disappointment was still in her voice. She was breathing fast.

Wilhelm didn't know what to do. He never knew. He was always splitted. Everyone telling him what to do, and not to do. He was always confused about choosing what he wanted, or what everyone else wanted him to do. But somehow he always ended up choosing everybody else's opinion.

"Whatever" Wilhelm just said, walking out the kitchen, and straight to his room. Tearing up.

He tossed himself on his bed, trying to hold in the tears. Hugging himself as he felt his breathing getting more and more intense.

His heart started beating faster, as the shaking took over his body. He fell into a circle of thoughts. Thoughts about how he wasn't good enough. Why couldn't he just be like Erik? Erik was perfect, he was better.

The thoughts started to spin faster and faster in his head. His body felt like a massive black hole, with no purpose of being there. If It didn't do anything good, then why was it there?

As Wilhelm got worse and worse, he decided to call Simon. He was the only person he knew could calm him down. The only person that could make him feel like his body had a purpose in this life.

So he turned his body around and picked up his phone.

But when he looked at the Lock Screen, he saw that Simon had already texted him.

Simme🤍
Why didn't you tell me?
Call me when you can.

Wilhelm got confused. What was it hadn't told Simon?

He quickly opened the phone app and called Simon. He immediately picked up the phone.

"Hi Simon" Wilhelm said. Very confused.

"Hi" Simon just said.

He was mad.

"What it is?" Wilhelm started getting a bit worried. What was he mad about?

"It was August"

Shit

"I know" Wilhelm felt the guilt crawling up his stomach. Slowly blocking his breath.

"How long have you known?" Simons voice was cold. But Wilhelm could hear the sorrow that he felt deep down.

"A while"

"Why haven't you said anything" Simons voice was now cracking. He was crying. Wilhelm felt so bad. He had meant to tell him at the party. Now he didn't know what to say.

"I knew how you would react"

that was stupid.

That was so stupid.

"Why the hell are you taking his side?!" Simon started yelling. Wilhelm could hear the pain in his voice.

Wilhelm didn't know what to do. He didn't know what to say. He just felt so guilty. He had betrayed him. He knew that.

"I was trying to protect you" Wilhelm felt stupid. He knew that was wrong. He didn't need to protect Simon from that. He had every right to know that it was August.

"Right now, your only protecting August" Simon yelled, and hung up the phone.

And that's when Wilhelm realised one of his worst fears in this world.

He had sounded like his mother.
