Confusion and Booze

Marian arrived at his friend's doorstep, out of breath, blushing, and confused as any 21-year-old who just got flirted with (aggressively might I add) by a stranger behind a bar who happened to be attractive by all standards. Marian clutched the stitch in his side trying to still his drumming heart.

"What, the, hell, was, that," Marian said aloud to himself.

The man behind the bar, Nix he called himself. Was he a hooker? He had the face for one, maybe he was mafia? His clothes were expensive enough. Looking up through his now messy purple hair he saw Roman leaning on his doorway peering down at him.

"So what? Did the officer chase you all the way here? You look like you ran a marathon." Roman said looking over MMarian'ssweaty exhausted figure.

"More like running from some creep trying to flirt with me behind the bar," Marian said wiping more perspiration from his brow.

"Ha! You always were the most popular." Roman said, his dark eyes crinkling from his laugh.

Marian followed him inside. The apartment was small but that was mainly because it was occupied by the band's instruments. (David's drums mainly). Marian very quickly plopped down onto the couch with his fingers pressed into his temples in contemplation.
'His eyes were glowing pink; they were glowing pink' Marian thought to himself ignoring Scott when he sat down next to him with a pizza box in hand.
'Maybe he was wearing neon eye contacts? Fluorescent lighting? Adrenaline-boosted hallucinations. Is that a thing?' Marian was still burdening his brain before Roman gave a swift snap in front of his face.

"Hey! Mari! You'll puncture your skull if you dig your fingers any further into your temples." Roman said aloud.

Marian dropped his hands and let himself fall back onto the couch.

"Sorry Man, it's just, that person at the bar, something was off about him," Marian said as he took a plate with pizza from David.

"Was her flirting that harsh? Usually you can shrug it off, I haven't seen you like this since that one chick from David's college." Scott said though a bite of pizza.

"That's the thing Scott. It was a guy! A tall guy with long pink and black hair. The one with the white leather jacket we passed at the bar." Marian said extending his hands with dramatic flourish.

"The one who's outfit basically said "you can't afford me"?"

"Y E S." Marian said with a groan.

All his bandmates looked at each other before developing a simultaneous smirk. Marian sat up and noticed the cat faces that adorned his bandmates.

"What are you guys looking at me like that for?" Marian asked taking a nibble from his pizza.
Almost in unison, his bandmates went

"Mari has a cruuuuuush~" in a singsong tone.

Marian nearly choked on his food. Coughing and sputtering he managed to choke out

"The hell? No!"

He couldn't have a crush on a weird stranger who asked him to spend the night.
"Whatever if you say so." David cheekily replied.

Marian gave him a swift jab to the arm. He didn't have a crush on Nix. It was just a weird coincidence. But something was off, something drawing him to Nix. But it wasn't romantic interest. It was curiosity.

Back at the club, Nix was downing his 17th shot of the night, an angry pout remained apparent on his face, he had let his hair down and his makeup seemed worn. An unusual look for him.

"He just rejected me! I mean I used my charm and everything! And he just went "no thanks"! Can you believe it, Archie!?" Nix complained aloud to the bartender.

Archie rolled his eyes, but a smile stayed on his lips. He found Nix's frustration amusing.

"It seems the divine of love has met his match," Archie said with zeal.

Nix huffed angrily; his cheeks puffed out in angry defiance. His manicured nails drummed angrily at the bar counter.

"You don't get it, Arthur. He didn't just reject me; he didn't fall for my charm. He resisted the will of a divine! That's not normal!" Nix complained aloud. His voice echoed across the empty club.

"Have you ever considered not all people want to just sleep with you?" Archie quipped back, seemingly ready for this conversation to be over as he dried out the rim of a glass.

"That's impossible and sentimental. Not my style." Nix said standing from the bar.

"Well, maybe it's a challenge for you. I bet you won't be able to seduce them." Archie said with a grin as he collected Nix's shot glasses.

Nix gasped dramatically turning to him.

"I am the divine of love! I can make anyone I want fall for me!" He said angrily.
Turning away his leather jacket spinning with a flourish, he left the club with burning anger.
It's one man, how hard could it be to make one man fall in love with me? He thought as he walked down the street.
