It had been a learning a experience working with the blacksmith. His first couple of days was him trying to learn his way into actually making the blades and such instead of using them and he found it a bit fun. He had already worked an entire week at the shop and he could say that he was a half decent blacksmith in his own right. Of course he still had a ways to go.
He had found a place to live as he was given a bit of money to find somewhere to sleep for the night on his first day. He was given it for free since the owner liked him enough to do so.
Kakashi supposed it was due to his skill.
He still had his nightmares that wouldn't let him sleep and at some point through the middle of his week he had stopped completely. Of course it was noticed and he was asked about it but he didn't say anything. Even if they were nice, he wasn't that close to disclose his feelings. No one would ever get that close again.
"Hey, Kakashi. Did you hear me?" A female voiced asked and he was shaken from his thoughts
He sighed and turned to a girl about his age with a dark, blonde hair and purple eyes. She was dressed in a outfit that was meant to cover the blacksmiths as they worked. She was the apprentice of the leading blacksmith so she was always around and always tried to outdo him even though he never actually competed against her.
"Mmmm," he hummed, shrugging slightly.
She pouted and gave him a sour look. "I know you heard me, meanie." She sighed. "Anyway, we got some new tools that are on the way here. I was wondering if you could help carrying some of the load."
Kakashi nodded and began to sweep after picking up a broom.
The girl followed him to his annoyance. "Well? Aren't you going to ask when it'll get here?"
"I'll know when they arrive and say so."
The short and blunt answer seemed to displease her even more. "Why don't you want to talk? I'm trying to have a conversation, ya' know."
Kakashi just looked at her briefly before he went to sweeping again. She huffed angrily and went on her way for which he was grateful. She was annoying as all hell.

An hour later, the young Ninja was finishing up cleaning when a certain smell stopped him in his tracks. He covered his nose, dropping the broom in the process but he could still smell that awful smell. His nose tracked it. It was coming from outside of the shop and it was coming from a person.
What is that?
He moved out of the shop and cautiously walked slowly toward the sent. It was heading somewhere. The closer he walked, the stronger it was and he was starting to get lightheaded. There was a burning at the back of his throat and it was hard to swallow as his mouth went dry.
Whatever this smell was coming from wasn't normal. He kept walking, even when he was out the village and then he began to run. He thrashed threw the snow, the smell getting stronger and stronger and a pit formed in his stomach. This was like a feeling of death, something he could not describe but it felt so similar when Rin had died. Maybe that was why he was running? He didn't know in all honesty.
He leaped up onto a a tree and leaped off of it so high that he could see where the smell was coming from with his eyes now. It was coming from a slightly disheveled cabin and the smell was now so strong that it was suffocating. But he pushed onward.
"NOOOOOO!" He heard a woman scream when he landed near the house.
He launched himself at it, slamming through the wall and into the midst of a woman being eaten by another human?
