Chapter 4 : Closer

Na AeGyo's Pov:

Sitting by the lake, reminiscing on the memories I shared here with Jung Doo Man. A small smile made it to my lips. "Are you cursing at me DooMan oppa?" Throwing a stone or two into the lake for entertainment. "Maybe I should visit you before I depart tomorrow? I won't be coming back for a little while, are you okay with that? "

Watching the sun come up, in a chair, with a coffee in hand. What now? I don't understand the sudden turn my life has taken. If someone had asked me this time last year, if I'd ever see myself running away with a woman, I'd tell them they are insane. I'm a lone rider, solo.

Throwing another stone, I grabbed my favorite blanket and wrapped it around myself tighter. It's still so soft, a gift I'll treasure forever. It still feels so fresh, the accident and how he has passed so suddenly. The bitter memories of regret hunt my mind every now and again.

Smiling at my current reality, was it his doing? I chuckled at the thought, of course it is. I smiled again, pushing away the regret and enjoying the moment of silence and peace. This lake was a special place, a place where I felt safe and secure. I wonder if she feels safe here too.

Flashback of our conversation over the shakes the other afternoon, still freshly lingering in my thoughts. She was so bold, stating she was into women. Almost as if she wanted to challenge me, cheeky woman doesn't realize that she is making things dangerous for us.

Trying to keep my face straight wasn't possible, when thinking about how bold the latter actually is. I always thought I'd find her bit boring, being somebody's pawn, Shim Suryeon's to be exact. There is much more to Oh Yoonhee than I thought and it's quite intriguing, she's intriguing. Chuckling at how warm the thoughts of her made me feel, I never considered myself the type to fall for someone at first sight, but then again I never considered falling for anyone again.

I wonder how she is feeling about her situation, Yoonhee hasn't really spoken about it and I am not one to ask either. Watching the steam from my coffee cup, make its escape towards the early morning breeze. I smiled, today I just want to relax and enjoy the lake. Tomorrow, everything will begin, we will be 'Bonnie and Bonnie'.

Never bothering to ask Yoonhee where she wanted to run, I figured I'd make the decision myself, China. I wonder if Park Gyuri got us the passports yet, to think about it, it's been taking her a while. Checking my wrist for time, it's just after 7AM. Taking another sip, I looked towards the reflecting sun in the water. Now that I have a partner in 'crime', I have another person to look out for than just myself. Something tells me looking out for the latter will be more than a challenge.

Still, China sounds exciting. Investing into properties in China, secretly, was the only good part of being Joo Dan Tae's woman. You could always steal some of his money, right under his nose. Right where he wouldn't notice. I wouldn't say he's a stupid man but he definitely thought I was fully loyal to him and only him. I truly pitied the man, he was a good guy but too greedy, we both were too greedy and it just happened that I met someone who helped me realize that a comfortable life isn't always built on money and power.

Looking towards the hut, AISH! the light is on. She's awake already. Something tells me today will be tiring, snuggling deeper into the blanket, I exhaled a big breath. Fate can be so bothersome at times.

-35 minutes later-

Staring at the freshly risen sun, covering trees with shade. Reflecting memories brightly, I realized I was spacing out when the sound of footsteps behind me, snapped me back to reality. "AeGyo-ah" My face tensed in annoyance for the first time today. No AeGyo don't let her do this to you, nice and relaxing day, remember. "Are you searching for your death?"
