(Y/N) stood in front of the dirty, cracked mirror. She adjusted the sleeves of the uniform she had siphoned off the guard. It was made of a dark green fabric with golden buttons along the cuff and middle of the uniform. She wore beige pants and dark brown boots that came all the way up to her knees. It was an ugly uniform. (Y/N) slid the guard's gun into its holster and hid her own blade through the sleeves of the shirt.
"Are you ready?" Levi walked into the room, looking grim. The two of them hadn't told Hange that Levi, Mikasa, and a couple others would be camping out near the palace and would storm it if (Y/N) gave the signal that Hange betrayed her. (Y/N) nodded and patted the pocket where she kept the emergency firework.
"What if I do see the guard that killed Sasha and Connie?" She asked quietly. She wasn't sure if she was ready to face that man again.
"Then capture him. Show him no mercy, (Y/N)," Levi's expression had darkened and his grip on his gun tightened. "You've grown stronger as the years passed by. I know you'll be able to capture him. You can defeat him."
(Y/N) exhaled shakily. She didn't doubt her strength. Years of training showed on the calluses and rough skin of her palms, along with the cuts and bruises along almost every limb. The only thing she was worried about was freezing. It wasn't easy confronting the person who took away the people you loved.
"Let's go. Hange is probably eager to get out of their restraints," Levi said distastefully. It was obvious that he still didn't trust them. (Y/N) thought back to last night, when Hange had quietly told her about their assistant, who had died years ago. There was something about sharing similar trauma that had caused (Y/N)'s attitude towards Hange to soften.
(Y/N) led the way as she walked down the hallway, heading towards the room they kept Hange. She unlocked the door and entered.
"There you are. I was wondering if you'd chickened out," Hange spoke up. They raised their wrists, which had been bound again with rope last night. "Let me go now, please."
(Y/N) shook her head, amused. "You seem very excited to not be tied up anymore. It almost makes me wonder if letting you go is a mistake."
"Excuse me, need I remind you that you were the one who kidnapped me and forcefully kept me here for weeks? I think I deserve the right to be excited to use my arms again. And to be home," Hange added, quirking an eyebrow.
(Y/N) leaned forward, placing her blade between the thick layers of rope. She looked up at Hange, lips curved into a small smirk. "I'll miss seeing you tied up like this. It's not every day I get the royal scientist to be submissive."
Hange's eyes widened, their mouth opening and closing as they tried to come up with a quick remark. The ropes from their wrists fell as (Y/N) cut them swiftly.
"Come on," (Y/N) motioned towards the door. "We need to get to the palace as soon as we can. The faster I spot the guard I need, the faster I can get out of there."
Hange followed (Y/N), their fingers massaging the sore areas of their wrist where the rope had scratched their skin. (Y/N) turned to them briefly, a gun in her hand.
"Betray me and I'll kill you," she said simply.
"I wouldn't dream of it," Hange responded, straightening. "I would suggest taking me through the main gate, the one that's always guarded by all those men. It would make more sense if you go through a very public area."
(Y/N) nodded and glanced towards Levi. He was pretending to stay back at the shack but would actually follow (Y/N). Levi nodded back in confirmation, watching as (Y/N) led Hange out the shack. (Y/N)'s throat felt dry and she swallowed. There was a high chance she might end up dead because of this mission. But there was also a high chance that she get revenge.
