The First Attempt

"I love my life!" my one and only best friend even when she's drunk yelled as we helped her get into her car.

"Boys, thank you so much for your help but I can handle this," I shoved the boys next table away.

Though I struggle with driving, I have to get my best friend home safe so I bravely got on the driver's seat. As we pulled over Kimberly's front door, I struggled getting her out from the car. She insisted getting out by herself, babbled some words, and puked. I was hoping for someone to open the door immediately.

"What happened?" my best friend's mom asked in shock upon seeing her wasted daughter.

"We just celebrated something and she over drank," I explained.

"Please help me get her in," she requested.

We got into my best friend's "princess" room as we called it during childhood. It was pink all over with a princess canopy bed. It was quiet some time since my last visit and all the pinks were gone. I was taken aback as I wandered my eyes around my best friend's bedroom.

"She had outgrown it," Kim's mom said knowing exactly the questions running inside my head.

My best friend's pink canopy bed is now replaced with a plaid simple bed. Her unicorn paintings are now posters of metal boy bands. Her vanity princess dresser is now a plain full-length mirror. But the great thing is, our photos from toddler years to high school were still in their frames! I smiled at the memories each photo brought. Me and my best friend had been through thick and thin!

"Why is it very hot?" Kim was starting to take her clothes off.

"I'll go get damp towel to clean her," Kim's mom motioned out of the room.

Watching my best friend half naked became an unpleasant sight to me. Though we shared a lot of showers fully naked together in the past, this time it felt different. I didn't know if I was comparing the shape of her breasts with mine and it felt weird so I cover her with her blanket.

"Hey, are you still in love with your long-time crush?" she suddenly asked me while reaching out for my hand.

"What?!" I asked her back though I perfectly knew what she exactly meant.

"Know that I am always here loving you no matter what," she sweetly said caressing my hand.

"I always know that," I said patting her hand back.

"I'm serious!" my best friend pulled my hand tight into hers.

"I always love you," she uttered sleepily.

To my surprise, I felt a sudden jolt to my stomach. As her best friend, I just shoved away any thought of malice. Of course, that doesn't mean anything. We're best friends for life! You cannot take a drunk person seriously. But they say that a person can express their in-depth hidden feelings when drunk. I shook my head for just the thought of it!

"Alright, I'll take care of her from here," Kim's mom returned to the room with a basin of lukewarm water and towel.

"It's already too late and we're going to meet some of our highs school classmates tomorrow. Kindly wake her up early please," I pleaded as Kim's mom sent me out.

"Sure, I will," Kim's mom answered.
