Chapter 5

"Never again am I playing hide and seek with you or your sister!" I groaned finally coming out of the bed and stretching. I would say I was under that bed for more than half an hour and they still haven't found me. Well technically they haven't found me because they were watching a movie in the freaking living room.

What amazing friends they are eh?

"C'mon, I got tired and we tried calling yo-"

"Don't even start with me King!"

"You can be my Queen if you stop being mad." He winked when I scoffed, pushing past him. So honestly I wasn't really mad, or upset. Just the fact that I was under the bed almost half asleep made me a little cranky. But whatever.

I looked at the clock with LCD numbers on it and it read seven pm. The sky was growing already a shade of dark and the Florida weather seemed to have fogged up his windows.

"Josh I think I have to go home now, but I'll talk to you in school tomorrow?"

"What why? No don't leave me with this monster! Stay at least one more hour, please? I promise I won't do that again to you!"

I shook my head in disagreement because in all reality I was exhausted, we didn't even get any homework done and if I didn't do it today I wouldn't hear the end of it from my teachers tomorrow for being so unprepared. Sure other students can do it and it's fine, but if Hayleigh Lynn White does it, it's the start of World War one.

"I'm sorry Joshy, maybe I can come over tomorrow and actually do work?" His face fell in disappointment making me frown. I hated making people sad especially one of my best friends.

"C'mon don't be mad, get glad!" I added with a grin making him chuckle. "I promise I'll come over tomorrow okay?"  He nodded in agreement and came by me to give me a big hug, which I gratefully returned.

"You better, I think I need help with English."

I rolled my eyes saying my goodbyes and going out to be greeted by the bipolar air. At first it was hot, and then it was cold. Funny how that is and we were in winter. You'd think it would be freezing by now.

After I made my way home, I was greeted by my mom and dad sitting on the couch socializing and watching some random show on the television that could only mean it was CSI.

"Hey honey, did you have fun at Josh's?" My mom said making me tilt my head in shock. I even forgot to tell her I was going to Josh's house. I was expecting her to be mad or throw a fit, especially since my father was in the living room. But no, I was greeted warmly.

"Yeah ma, sorry I didn't tell you." I went over to kiss her and my dad on the cheek and smiled. "I hope it was okay, how did you know anyways?"

"Alyssa told us and so did Mrs. King, we wanted to make sure you kids were okay by yourselves. She let us know that you were helping him babysit Leslie." She stated grinning not taking her eyes off me. "So, did you guys have fun?" She winked as if indicating something making my eyes widen.

"Wh-what?"

That's when my dad groaned, "Angela if you're going to talk about boys to my daughter please don't do it when I'm home. It's already sad enough to see my baby all grown up." He whined like a child keeping his eyes glued to the tv.

"Don't worry dad, I'll still be you're little girl."

"But I'll always be your favorite!" Alyssa joined in ruining my moment making me scowl.

"Keep dreaming Lyss." I rolled my eyes passing by her and running up towards my room.

"Oh no you don't missy! You know I'm awesome-er than you! Just admit it and we will all live like a happy family." As she said those words I kept ignoring her, but it only made her words grow louder in my ear as I was nearing my door. "And we both know-" Her words were cut off when I slammed my room door, and locked it.
