oh no

Harry's mouth was set into a thoughtful frown as he stared at the vase next to his bed. It looked too tacky and bright. The colors red, pink, blue and orange clashed uncomfortably together. He rolled his eyes and left the room in a hurry.

Every single time he was in his room, his eyes caught the four roses and he felt queasy at the stomach, as if he was doing something wrong.

He grunted and entered the common room where he was ambushed by a boy who looked exceedingly familiar.

"Hi!" The boy chirped.

"Hullo," Harry smiled softly.

"I'm Ben," He extended his hand to shake Harry's hand. Then Harry remembered where he had seen him. He was in the year above Harry and had always nodded at him in the corridors in passing.

"Hey Ben, I'm Harry."

"Oh. I know." He nodded and took out a white rose from his pocket. Harry froze in his place and his stomach lurched.

Oh no, not again, he thought.

"I really like you." Ben said confidently, a smile graced his tanned face. "And I want to go out on a date with you."

"I barely know you," Harry said slowly, trying to knock some sense into him.

"Exactly why I'm asking you out," He waved Harry off, "I want to get to know you better."

"Ben— I don't want to—" Harry said cautiously.

"Well, don't answer me now! Take two days, give me an answer on Sunday." He said as a matter-of-factly. He looked absolutely confident that the days he had given Harry would convince him to say yes.

Harry could only narrow his eyes at the back of his head as Ben strutted out of the room after kissing his cheek hurriedly. Harry pushed down the urge to hex him.

The Gryffindor groaned and went back to add the white rose with the other flowers.

He didn't know why he was keeping the flowers, but sometimes you do things even if you don't want to.
