A New Life

Nuwa and her grandfather had just moved into their new apartment and spend 2 weeks of unpacking and organizing everything

One day, Nuwa was sitting on the kitchen table while scrolling through different articles, looking for a job

Her animal companion, Nao Nao, the vixen was sitting on her lap while having a nap and snoring softly

Tai-Hua walked over and sat down while holding a cup of tea

"Hmm, what's that you're looking for?" Tai-Hua asked his granddaughter, taking a sip of his tea

"I'm looking for a job, but it's not as easy as they say" Nuwa replied as she leaned her head on her hand

"Oh, have you tried looking for-"

"Found it!"

Tai-Hua was taken back by Nuwa's sudden excitement as his eyes softened. "Look" Nuwa pointed at an article about working in a noodle shop

"Murakami's noodle shop?... Hmm, I suppose that it looks suitable to you" Tai-Hua chuckled

"I know, right? I'm going to arrange a job interview right now" Nuwa replied as she did so

Tai-Hua just rolled his eyes playfully while chuckling, taking another sip of his tea

"Teenagers" He thought

Nuwa had her job interview at 8 pm, so after she and Tai-Hua had dinner, she got ready and walked outside, walking through the streets of NYC

As she entered the East Village, she saw a glimpse of the location she was going to, but immediately noticed something bad was going on

She could her stuff being thrown around, punching and yelling

She hurried over and stormed inside, she saw the owner of the noodle shop being thrown around and beaten up by three men that seemed like gang members

"Alright, leave him alone!" Nuwa warned as she got into position

"And who do we have here?... allow me to introduce ourselves, beautiful. We're the Purple Dragons, I'm Fong and these are Sid and Tsoi. And this is our neighborhood" the skinny one smirked as the other two grinned, Nuwa just glared at them in disgust

"But since you seem to be new here, we're going easy on you" the skinny one said

"That's not necessary, I can guarantee you that" Nuwa replied

"Sid!" Fong called as Sid sprinted at Nuwa with a crowbar in his hands

Then, Nuwa shot a blast of air at him that sends him flying to the wall

Fong and Tsoi had their mouths open, not expecting that to happen

"Tsoi!" Fong ordered as he snapped his fingers

Tsoi came running as he attempted to throw a punch, Nuwa then shot a blast of fire with both of her fists

Tsoi backed away while screaming as his upper body was burning

The Purple Dragons fled before Nuwa could make another move, Nuwa hurried over to Murakami's side as she helped him up

"Are you ok?" Nuwa asked as she helped him sit down

"Yeah, I'm will be fine" Murakami replied while Nuwa was placing some chairs back at their original position while asking him questions

"Do you know these... Purple Dragons?" Nuwa asked as Murakami sighed sadly

"Yes, they demand protection money, but I refuse to pay. They will surely return"

"Actually... I came for my job interview as you may remember. So, I may be able to protect you as well" Nuwa suggested

"We won't be having your job interview, because you are already hired, Ms. Avatar" Murakami said as Nuwa's smile quickly changed into a confused expression

"Wait! How did you?..." Nuwa trailed off, she noticed right from the beginning that he was blind, so she wasn't expecting that

"I have other senses too, I heard the wind and the flames" Murakami chuckled as Nuwa nodded

"That's great. So, when do I start?" Nuwa asked

It was indeed a good start for Nuwa, she fought off a first-class gang and got hired right away
