It has been said that love is a roller coaster with no restraints and your partner is the only thing keeping you from flying out.

However, that wasn't alwyas true. It certainly wasn't true in Kiyoshi and Maroshi's case.

It was true that the sight of Kiyoshi was one of the few things that could make the normally apathetic Maroshi excited. It was also true that Maroshi's constant compliments made Kiyoshi's face turn redder than a fiesty treasure tree. But other than that, their realationship was fairly chill.

Kiyoshi had always been an anxious person. He was constantly worrying about this or that or how disaster seemed to be lurking around every corner. But when he was with Maroshi, all of that went away. Maroshi was all about embracing uncertainty, because after all, that meant good things could happen too, right?

Even when they were doing something legitimately scary, like skyboarding over a deep gorge, all Maroshi had to do was look at Kiyoshi with his perfect smile and assure him that everything was okay, that he knew what he was doing. And even though Maroshi wasn't always, it became clear Kiyoshi spent more time with him that he did really know what he was doing. No matter what the obstacle, Maroshi always had a way of reminding him that it too, shall pass and that they'd make it to the other side.

It was a nice change of pace from Kiyoshi's near-constant worries, and so despite the butterflies in his stomach, there really was no place where Kiyoshi felt more at piece than when he was lying against Maroshi's shoulder.

On the flipside, Maroshi was a generally relaxed person already, if a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Much like his flochi companion, he enjoyed jetting to moons unknown, hopefully encountering a meteor shower or two to mess around with. Even when his feet were firmly on solid ground, his mind was often elsewhere, whether it be on the image of the beautiful oceans of his old home or deep philosophical questions about the nature of the universe.

But with Kiyoshi? POOF, that was all gone. Suddenly it didn't matter how everything came to be or if he never skyboarded through an obstacle course of meteors again. What mattered was living in the moment, with Kiyoshi, and everything else had a way of just fading away.

Of course, things couldn't be like that all the time. Maroshi and Kiyoshi had lives outside of each other, and it was important and healthy to remember that, lest they both drown in their own feelings and hurt the people around them in the process. They both dealt with the battles and trials of life, whether it be their guilt, their regrets, or even just minor problems with their alterlings.

But at the end of the day, they could aside all their struggles and just be with each other in a peaceful bliss that they didn't have with any of their other friends. Kiyoshi would take Maroshi's hand, Maroshi would take Kiyoshi's, and they'd just stay with each other, stargazing until they fell asleep on each others shoulder.

Indeed, love isn't always a wild roller coaster ride. Sometimes love is just relaxing.
