WINGS OF FIRE meets the ODYSSEY.

Hesperion Aleunor can feel the spectators' eyes on his scales when the moon rises over the sea waves. Starlight mocks him each night, knowing that he would never wake up in the same nest when dawn breaks. All it took was one incorrigible error for him to turn into a toy for celestial beings, into a vagabond bearing a peculiar curse.

When discord erupts in the heavens above, an escape opens before him in the form of a dangerous wager, one that could cost him his life. As he fights against his curse for his freedom, a desperate Hesperion finds his fate deeply intertwined with his homeworld's.

All the world's an arena and the heavens are waiting, breathless. What would it take for one dragon to outlast his curse?

Hey everyone, how's it going?

So it's ONC season once again and this time, I'm doing a full-blown novella sequel to two of my shorts, Dronesguard and How to Start a Travel Agency (the latter is more of an abandoned prototype than a prequel). Don't worry though, Lightborn is a standalone novella and you don't need to read the two to understand what's going on.

Lightborn is a dragon high fantasy set in the same universe as Jackal Eka and Evermaiden. It takes place in the Korallion Archipelago, the Dragon homeland.

It also has elements of historical fantasy, space fantasy, paranormal fantasy, star-crossed romance and family drama. The dragons in here are very much reptilian, can't turn into humans and have four legs and two wings. They're highly intelligent however and have an ancient culture of their own. This little tale was inspired by the stories of all mortals who had their hubris torn down by gods and had their destinies toyed with, both heroes and tyrants alike. You'll also see Greco-Roman, Victorian and Renaissance influences here.

Lightborn and its characters have a very special place in my heart since the prequel was one of my very first original fantasy stories, both in the real world and on Wattpad. It came from a place of love and friendship in a very good friend's comment section in 2018 and it reminds me of the days when Wattpad was a closely-knit, vibrant community. Back then, it was fun being on Wattpad and each year, the ONC season reminds me of those days.
