Chapter 1
Standing in the middle of a large crowd of drunk, sweaty, loud teenagers isn't the most wonderful thing in the world. So it's said, and it is most of the time true, teenagers like to party, get drunk and do stupid things they will most likely regret later in life. For some thats true, some it isn't.
Parties aren't really my thing. I don't really fit in with the crowd. One, I don't drink. Two, I can't dance to save my life. Three, well, I don't really know. Parties just aren't my favorite thing in the world.
They are definitely my best friend Katie's favorite thing. She's into the whole, hooking up with guys, drinking, dancing...all that junk.
So she has dragged me to this huge party at someone's house, someone whom I truly hate. Who? Alex Spencer. Sounds like a nice name, right? Yeah, no. He is the typical popular, preppy, football, player, jerk guy. Within all my many encounters with this boy, I really, really can't stand him. Actually, I hate him.
Well, Katie, on the other hand, is obsessed with him. She thinks he is the best thing in the world. She always goes on and on about how sexy he is, and how she thinks he might ask her out. I usually zone her out because it makes me sick hearing someone talk about Alex Spencer like that.
As of right now, I am in kind of a bad mood. I had the worst morning ever, and I have a severe headache.
This morning when I woke up, my little brother Max was in my room. And guess what he was doing? Trashing it. He had a bottle of white liquid glue in one hand, squirting it all over my expensive white rug, and a black sharpie in the other, drawing pictures on my walls. I think you can guess my reaction to all that.
Then when I got downstairs, and complained to my mother about what Max did, my dad came running in the room, frantic about something. He tried to dash quickly past me to get to my mom, but ended up stepping on my toe. He's a large man. Then, to make matters worse, whatever my dad was so frantic about had my mom running out the door with him (I still don't know what it was), and stepped on my toe as well.
So, they left me in charge of Max, with a swollen, throbbing toe, and told me to make him some grilled cheese for lunch. So I tried to, but ended up burning the toast and the oven baker caught on fire. Then Max started running around the house screaming, "FIRE BEEP BEEP FIRE CALL 911!!!"
After that, it was just one bad event after the other, and cleaning up the mess in my room was a nightmare.Quite honestly today has been crap. So Katie called me and asked me to come to this party, and I said no, but she forced me to go anyways because "Alex Spencer is gonna be there!" No, duh, it's his house.
So here I am, at Alex Spencer's (who I really hate) house, with a hurt toe, a throbbing headache...and I am really hot in my outfit. We have been here for three and a half hours now. I'm wearing my designer black heels, and tight skirt from a shop in Paris when me and my family went, and a long sleeve red shirt. Along with it, I am wearing some really expensive hoop earrings, and my Coach watch. I know, designer this, designer that. Not to be snobby, or brag, but my family is rich. I mean, we have money. I live in a really big house in a really big neighborhood. And guess who my lucky rich neighbor just so happens to be? Alex Spencer! Oh joy!
Katie is off with some guy dancing, so I am all alone standing by the beverage table. I really just want to go now, I don't want to be here. I am popular at school, so a ton of people have come up to me and said hi, and talked to me for a bit. I know basically everyone in the whole school, so I recognize almost everyone here.
I hear a voice calling my name from across the room, and I look up and see Katie waving at me to come over where she is.
I sigh and throw my drink out, and walk over to her. She's all up on some guy, batting her eyes, and twirling her hair, getting really close to him. I can tell he likes it. He's really big and muscular, and he has spiked blond hair...he must be one of Alex's stupid football friends.
