Chapter 3
I was wrong. Something did get in my way. And when I say get in my way, I mean that literally this person was in my physical way of getting to Jake in English. None other than the one and only Alex Spencer. Who else?
He's blocking me from getting into the classroom, which is right next to my locker. He has trapped me in a weird way where I can't escape, and I am left really close to him.
He's smirking. Of course.
"What in God's name are you doing? I need to get to class!" I try my best to push him away from me, but I have no luck. He's too muscular. He chuckles, and doesn't move.
"Alex, what the-"
"I just wanted to ask you something," He says all serious. I roll my eyes, and let out a breath. The sooner I just let him ask his dumb question, the sooner I can get to class and talk to Jake.
"What?" I ask. He looks at me with a devilish grin on his face. Oh God, whats he-
"Do you," He begins really dramatically, I groan, and hit my head against the locker. "Have a pencil I can borrow, more specifically a mechanical one with .2 lead?" He says smirking to himself. Oh my God. He does these things to purposely annoy me.
"You're a freak," I say, and forcefully push him out of my way to get to class.
"So, I take that as a no?" He says innocently. I don't respond and enter my class. But faintly, I hear him say "Okay, see you later." And I shake my head. No, I don't want to see you later.
What is his issue? A pencil? .2 lead? Weirdo. I head to my seat in the back of the class next to Jake, and I smile to myself when I see that he's already seated...then I realize that...everyone is seated. I'm the only one who isn't. I'm late. All because of stupid Alex. I can tell by the look on my teacher, Mr. Ned's face, he isn't very pleased with me.
"Ms. Lockwood, is there a reason you're late?" He asks, crossing his arms. Everyone looks at me. I swallow, and shake my head.
"No, sir." I admit. I hear a couple snickers from some students. I glance over at Jake, and he isn't even paying attention, he's doodling something in his notebook. Good. I don't want him paying attention, this is embarrassing. I don't get embarrassed easily, but being called out by teachers has always gotten me upset.
"She was busy, Mr. Ned." I hear a girl I'm somewhat friends with call out. Her name is Cathrine. She's nice. But, boy that was a terrible thing to say. Especially to a teacher.
"Yeah, too busy making out with her boyfriend, Alex Spencer." I hear someone from the front call out. I feel my face flush red.
"He's not my-"
"Enough!" Mr. Ned cuts me off, "Flynn, no one needs your comments," he points to the source of that annoying comment. I should have known. Flynn Stocker. He can't keep his mouth shut.
"And as for you, Ms. Lockwood," He eyes me, "If it happens again, I'll be seeing you in detention." I nod quickly, and rush to my seat. My heart is pounding so fast, and I feel so angry. I am going to punch Alex for this. I am going to-
"Emily," I hear a voice whisper. I look around and realize it's Jake. Jake West! Jake West is talking to me.
I turn to him, "Yeah?" Oh man, those eyes are so pretty, I feel like they are sucking in my soul.
"You dropped this," He says bending down, and picking up one of my pink folders, with all my homework. I smile cheekily and take it.
"Thank you," I whisper, "kinda need your homework folder don't you? It's really important. I wouldn't have seen that, thanks for noticing...I mean thanks for giving it to me. You didn't have to, I mean I don't know..." I trail off, realizing I'm babbling and he's staring at me with a slight blank slight amused expression on his face.
