Chapter Six- The Setup

Kai's shoes lightly padded against the hardwood floor as he approached the apartment door. His breath was shaky as he opened it, finding Jacob on the couch.

Your little brother stood, looking at Kai expectantly- but when he really studied the witch's face, he let out a shaky exhale.

"Listen... I tried-"

Jacob turned away before Kai could even form a sentence, going to his room and slamming the door with a lot of force.

Kai shook his head, his eyes welling up with tears as he slowly looked down at the shattered ascendent in his hands. He softly closed the door behind him, going over to the coffee table and kneeling in front of it as he slowly attempted to fit the pieces together.

The image of your sad face, of you reaching out to him as he disappeared from that world was haunting him. All he could think about was seeing you again.

Present Kai woke up with a sharp gasp, your hand going to calm him immediately as you laid next to him. He calmed with your touch, turning on his side and seeking more. He laid his head on your chest, sighing with relief as he felt like he could breathe again.

"Bad dream?" You hummed, running your hand through his hair.

"Bad memories." He whispered, horrified at the thought of the past.

You frowned, reaching down to press a chaste kiss to his hair. You sighed, your eyes closed... "Let's make good ones from now on. So they'll outweigh the bad... okay?"

"Okay."

You could feel his smile across your skin and you smiled too. "I love you, Kai."

"I love you too." He said, his voice still a whisper. You sighed once again, sitting up and letting him softly fall away from your body and to the other side of your bed. You ran a hand through your hair, grumbling under your breath as you went to your closet and putting on one of the comfy but cute outfits Val and Kai picked out for you.

It was a comfy and flowy sundress, accompanied with flats and your hair up in a neat bun. Kai snuck behind you as you fixed your hair in the bathroom mirror, his hands going around your waist softly placing them on your stomach.

You smiled at him, amused at his naked form as he cuddled into you from behind.

"What's on the itinerary for today?" He asked, kissing your cheek affectionately before going over to the shower. He turned it on, the hot water starting to steam quickly, his back to you as you glanced up and down his toned form with appreciation.

"We need to get Val an apartment. We also need to go to Jacob's school for Open House, but we also need to make sure he has all the school supplies he needs. I was also wanting to discuss.." You grasped his shoulder, turning him around just before he was about to enter the shower. He raised a brow, his tired eyes looking you up and down. He obviously liked what he saw... You smiled in amusement, feeling his already hard appendage in between his legs as you neared him. You looked down, swallowing your lust down as you looked back up at his face, "...the possibility of getting a house together."

"You think we're ready for that?" He asked.

"In five more months? Maybe." Your hands went up his arms, softly gliding up across his skin as they went to his neck, leaning in to kiss him. His lips were soft, and it made you horny but... the day wasn't going to wait for anyone. You pulled away, tapping his shoulder. "Now hurry up. Jacob can't be late and neither can Valerie for her apartment appointment."

Kai's stare darkened as you walked away, his lust overwhelming him. Ever since he turned, it felt like his libido increased tenfold. He rushed forward, his speed supernatural (he had almost forgotten he was half a vampire), stopping you as he stood in front of the door with a lustful gaze down at you.
