"I had a dream last night we, drove out to see Las Vegas" The crowd sang in unison and swayed in one movement, I on the other hand being 5 foot 4, couldn't control moments against the others, let alone see above or more importantly through the tall boy in front of me.
But considering the fact that I was seeing my favorite band, and the one that got me into music really, for the second time I wasn't about to stand behind everyone once again.
And this guy was blocking my view from Derrick.
I tapped on his shoulder and hoped he would turn around. To my greatest appreciation he did.
He nodded
"can I get in front of you?" I asked sweetly.
"I can't hear you" he mouthed and pointed to his ear while shaking his head.
I leaned up on my toes and brought him closer to me.
"Can I get in front of you please?" I said loudly.
He nodded and shifted awkwardly so I could maneuver through the group.
"You know you didn't have to yell" he shouted in my ear, making me laugh.
I felt his hands rest on my shoulders. I assumed it was because of the lack of room in the small venue.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Thank You guys for an awesome show, see you next time!" Jake said into the mic and they all exited the stage simultaneously.
I waited for the crowd to clear and got a little uneasy when that guy did too.
"Uh hey sorry about the awkward closeness we just shared" he said as the lights came on. I turned around and got a good look at him.
He had blue dyed hair and green eyes. With a black hoodie over his head and the sleeves rolled up his forearms.
But there was one minor thing I couldn't overlook.
The fact the he was Michael fucking Clifford.
Be cool Christina
I thought as I took a deep breath and laughed. "Yeah, it's okay I kind of payed to be awkwardly close to strangers" I smiled.
He smiled back and took a long look at me. "What's your name?"he shoved his hands in his pockets.
"I'm Chris" I said confidently, tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Well hi Chris, im glad to meet you" he said nodding.
"You too" I smiled.
"Do you happen to have a ride home?"
"I have a car, so I guess I'm my own ride home"
"Ah"
"Yeah do you want a ride?" I returned the question. Praying he would say yes.
"Well I'm actually supposed to get picked up by my friend pretty soon"
"Oh alright, well it was nice to meet you" I said, hiding my disappointment and turning to leave quickly.
"Wait a minute" he held up his finger and took out his phone.
"What are you doing"
"Well I'm obviously calling off my ride since you insist on giving me a lift." He said sarcastically
I sighed nervously in relief
"Oh you know me, So demanding" I laughed and started walking toward my car."You never asked my name" Michael said once we were on our way out of the McDonalds drive through.
"I know who you are"
"You do?"
"Doesn't the entire world?"
"Unfortunately. You just didn't seem to know about stupid boybands"
I took a sip of my vanilla milkshake and shrugged my shoulders.
"You don't seem like the type to play in a boyband"
"Fair enough"
I laughed and he turned on the radio.
"Yessss" he yelled as Taylor swift's "Style" filled the air.
"You've got to be kidding me"
"Everyone loves this song"
"Clearly not everyone" I defended
"You're lying" he pointed at me.
"Am I?"
"I bet you know every word to this song" he said in a know it all voice.
"Nope" I bit a fry and he did the same. Leaning back into the passenger seat.
"I'm doubting your musical ability" he said after a minute.
"Why's that?"
"Is that why you don't want to sing your favorite song?"
"I can sing Michael"
"Can you?"
"Kinda, not really but did you believe me?"
"Nope. But now I think you can sing"
"I can't"
"Comon do it!"
He sat up and started awkwardly dancing to the music. I smiled at the sight and shook my head.
"He can't keep his wild eyes on the road" his beautiful voice engulfed the tiny car. As he motioned for me to join in with him.
I denied him once again and he got quiet and looked out the window.
"You've got that James dean day dream look in your eyes" I joined in
"Hah! You couldn't resist" he teased.
"Watch it" I laughed. "Where do I turn?"
"right here" he pointed to the Next road on the left.
A few short minutes later we were parked outside his hotel.
"Thanks, I had fun"
"Thanks for letting me get in front of you"
I returned.
"Can I have your number?" He said blatantly and calmly.
"Yeah if you promise that some 12 year old girl isn't going to follow me home when she sees you get out of my car"
"No guarantees" he handed me his phone and I added my number.
"See Ya Chris."
He put his hood back over his head and Quickly got out of the car and made his way to the hotel entrance.
I drove home slowly, and to be honest I downloaded that song and listened to it the whole way. If I didn't know the words before I did now. It was kind of a good song.
I finally turned into my old dirt horseshoe driveway and parked. Smiling like an idiot as I got out of the car. My phone lit up In my hand and I leaned against the car.
Unknown number: You can sing, and your a liar. See you soon? ;)
