"RAE! HELLO!!! EARTH TO RAE?!" I snapped out of my thoughts as Maiko's voice penetrated my mind. She was standing in front of me waving her arms in my face. "Those guys over there would like a drink before your shift ends! And hurry up! I wanna dance!" She strolled off to the back to get changed.
"Sorry for the wait boys, what can I get you?" Thankfully, they only ordered a couple beers so I didn't have to make them any real drinks or continue the small talk conversations they were trying to have with me. I flashed them a smile before I turned and went in the direction Maiko had gone. Maiko and I had quit our jobs at Topshop and Forever 21 about a month ago and were now working at this nightclub in central London called Bump. It was a pretty new club and thanks to my expertise at mixing drinks that I'd learned back when I lived in San Francisco, I got this job pretty quickly. Plus, Michael's boyfriend was the owner of the club so that helped too.
I loved working here. Free drinks, free entrance to the club whenever, and I could go on the dance floor when my shift was over. That was the best part. Thanks to this club, in the past month I've gotten several new students in my dance studio. Life was going pretty well for me since I hadn't heard from Sean, Luke, or Harry and I was perfectly happy with that. Those boys caused me nothing but grief in the brief two or three days they'd come into my life.
"Raaaaaaaaaaaaaeee!!!" Chirped Maiko, extending the 'a' in my name longer than necessary. She came bouncing over to me, her thick Asian hair flying behind her and hugged me tightly. Her eyes were red and glazed over and she smelled like herbs.
"You're baked, Mai." I laughed. She smiled at me and glanced back over at Michael and our friends that were passing around a joint.
"Like a brownie! Do you want a hit?" She slurred, leaning on me for support. I laughed and walked her back over to our friends.
"No, no. I don't do that anymore. I'll stick to booze." I said, winking at her before turning to the group. "OI! Are we just going to hot box the locker room all night again or are we going to have some drinks?!" They cheered and followed me to the VIP lounge on the second floor of the club. Another benefit of working at this club, we got to go to the VIP lounge whenever we wanted. It was a really posh area to chill out. Sometimes celebrities came up but I never paid them any attention. There were different rooms, some more private than others. We chose a large round sofa that had a table in the center of it because the bar was directly behind it.
"Rae-Rae, you don't wanna go dancing?" Pouted Maiko as she leaned over the ledge to look down at the club below.
"Mai! Be careful!" I huffed as I pulled her back to our friends.
"Rae! Are you a lesbian?" Asked one of our friends, Marissa. I gawked at her shocked by her question as she continued. "Because you haven't been dating anyone for a while and you totally blew off Harry Styles! So, you know, we were wondering if that means you've joined the gay community." She winked at me as I glared at her and the group.
"Ha, ha. Very funny everyone. No, I'm still straight! I just haven't found a guy-"
"Worthy of your presence, your highness?" Interrupted Michael as he gave me a low, obnoxious bow.
"Oh piss off you drunk!" I joked as I pushed him back against the couch.
"Then prove to us you're not a lesbian!" He shouted back gaining the cheers of my friends. "Go snog that bloke over there!" He pointed over at a tall guy with his back to me. He had dark curls and his black tshirt hugged his arms nicely so that they were showing off the muscles underneath. All in all, he was well fit. He was with some friends but all their backs were facing us so I couldn't tell what they all looked like. Not one to back down from a challenge, though, I strode up to him confidently and turned him around. Before he could do anything I crashed my lips against his. After he recovered from his shock his arms wrapped around me tightly, pulling me closer to his body.
